Android 17 QPR1 is bringing older supported Pixel phones controls for choosing multiple screen savers and switching between them. That does not confirm that Pixel 11’s new Charge design or expanded clock styles are coming to older models: the reported older-device update is about selection and switching controls.
What’s coming to older Pixels
A September 16, 2026 report from Droid Life says Android 17 QPR1 is rolling out multiple-screen-saver controls on supported Pixel devices. Users can select more than one screen saver, arrange their order, swipe in from the display edge to move between them, or touch and hold for a quick switcher. Availability depends on whether the update has reached a particular device.

How this differs from Pixel 11’s new designs
In an August 20, 2026 report, 9to5Google described Pixel 11 features including a Charge screen saver that displays the time and battery level, along with expanded analog and digital clock customization. The later QPR1 report supports the arrival of multi-screen-saver selection and switching on older supported Pixels; it does not confirm that those Pixel 11 designs are included. Treat the controls and the specific visual styles as separate features unless device-specific information confirms otherwise.

Find and set up Pixel screen savers
Google’s Pixel Phone Help puts screen saver settings at Settings > Display & touch > Screen saver. Google says a screen saver can show photos, colorful backgrounds, a clock, and more while a phone is charging or docked.

- Open Settings > Display & touch > Screen saver.
- Turn on Use screen saver, then choose the content and other available settings.
- To choose when it appears, open When to show. Google documents options for showing it while charging or while upright and charging; depending on the device and setup, you can also restrict it to wireless charging.
- If multiple screen savers are available, arrange their order in the screen saver settings. Swipe in from the display edge to switch between active screen savers, or touch and hold to open the active-screen-saver overview.
Available content includes clocks, weather, a personal photo frame, charging status, and home controls. Weather and personal photos require permissions. Google also describes low-light behavior: by default, a dim environment changes the display to a low-light clock; users can instead set the screen to turn off.

What to check if you don’t see the controls
- Check whether Android 17 QPR1 is available for your Pixel and has been installed. The September 2026 report describes a rollout on supported devices, not universal availability.
- Return to Settings > Display & touch > Screen saver and look for the available choices. The exact content and controls may vary by device and update.
- Do not assume that missing Charge or expanded clock designs mean the QPR1 controls are absent. The sources reporting the older-device rollout do not establish that those Pixel 11 styles migrated with it.
