PhantomJS itself has no hosted screenshot plan: it is headless-browser software, and its project says development is suspended. If you mean the hosted service PhantomJsCloud, its pricing page displays plans from $0 to $250 per month, but those figures were not verified as current. Treat them as page-displayed estimates and confirm the terms with the provider before budgeting.
PhantomJS software is not the same as hosted rendering
PhantomJS is a JavaScript-scriptable headless browser that can render webpages to files. Its project homepage says, “Important: PhantomJS development is suspended until further notice,” and its GitHub repository was archived by its owner on May 30, 2023. The repository identifies version 2.1 as the latest stable release.

The software’s page.render method renders a webpage to an image buffer and saves it as a file. The documented formats include PDF, PNG, JPEG, BMP, and PPM; GIF support depends on the Qt build. Running that software yourself is different from paying a provider to operate a hosted browser-rendering API.
PhantomJsCloud prices displayed on its pricing page
PhantomJsCloud describes a hosted browser service using Chrome via Puppeteer or PhantomJS. Its pricing page displays the following monthly prices and estimated page volumes. The page was crawled about 2.7 years ago, and the figures have not been verified as current.
#1 Best Overall
| Displayed plan | Displayed monthly price | Estimated pages per day |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 per month | About 500 |
| Small | $10 per month | About 15,000 |
| Medium | $50 per month | About 75,000 |
| Large | $250 per month | About 375,000 |
These are vendor-published estimates, not guaranteed daily quotas. The pricing page bases them on two seconds of browser processing and 50 KB of output per page. Actual capacity can be lower or higher when pages take longer to render or produce more data.
What can change the actual hosted rendering cost?
The same page lists usage charges of $0.15 per hour of browser processing and $0.25 per GB of egress. It also describes additional ingress charges for proxy add-ons. The page does not establish that its displayed prices or terms remain available today, so check current pricing and service availability directly with PhantomJsCloud before relying on any amount.
Rank #2
- Browser processing time: slow pages consume more rendering time than the two-second assumption behind the page estimates.
- Returned data: output larger than the assumed 50 KB per page can change the estimated capacity and egress use.
- Proxy requirements: proxy add-ons may bring additional ingress charges.
- Output format: PhantomJsCloud documentation describes JPEG and PNG as screenshot outputs, and PDF as an option for reports or archiving.
How to compare hosted screenshot services
Do not compare providers using headline page counts alone. Check the monthly price alongside the assumptions and billing terms that determine how many captures your workload can actually support.
- Confirm that the plan and price are currently offered, and whether the price recurs monthly.
- Compare estimated volume with the provider’s assumptions for browser-processing time and output size.
- Estimate your own pages’ rendering time and returned data volume; variable pages can produce variable usage.
- Check whether your use case needs a proxy and whether ingress or other add-on charges apply.
- Verify that the service returns the format you need: PhantomJsCloud documentation lists JPEG and PNG screenshots and PDF for reports or archiving.
ScreenshotNeo as an alternative to try first
If you want a hosted screenshot API rather than operating a browser yourself, ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to consider: it bills only clean shots, its paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots, and its free tier includes 1,000 shots a month with no card. Its response headers report the page verdict and whether a capture was billed. It also offers an MCP server for AI agents and options to remove consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture.
For current ScreenshotNeo parameters and options, see the API documentation. A basic request is:
