The feature is now called Create files and apps; Perplexity’s February 5, 2026 changelog identifies it as the feature “previously known as Labs.” In the current web interface, open it from the + menu in the input bar.
What Perplexity Labs was
Labs was positioned as a project workspace, not simply another mode for producing a standard chat response. Perplexity described it as a place to develop an idea into a more structured piece of work, including projects that combine research, analysis, and a deliverable.

At launch, Perplexity said Labs could help with “a variety of work and personal projects.” Its examples included creating a marketing campaign, analyzing business finances, and planning meals for the week. The launch announcement also described use for structured shopping and travel decisions, such as comparing specifications before a major purchase. Perplexity’s May 29, 2025 launch announcement
Where Labs is in Perplexity now

That name change is useful context if you are following older guides or looking for “Labs” in the current interface: search for Create files and apps instead. The changelog establishes the rename and web access path; it does not establish that the feature is available on every platform or account.
Who could use it at launch
Perplexity’s May 29, 2025 launch announcement said Labs was available to all Pro users. That is a historical launch statement, not a guarantee of current plan eligibility, usage limits, or pricing. Those details can change; check Perplexity’s live product information and the options shown in your account before subscribing or planning a workflow around the feature.

What to expect from a project workspace
The launch examples suggest when a workspace-style feature may be more suitable than a quick factual query: when the goal is to assemble a useful output from several related decisions or steps. A campaign, business-finance analysis, meal plan, shopping comparison, or travel plan all involve organizing information toward a result rather than answering one isolated question.
The launch materials do not specify a complete current feature list, supported file formats, export or collaboration options, model selection controls, or usage caps. Those specifics should not be inferred from the Labs name or from the examples Perplexity gave at launch. Check the current interface for the tools and output options available to your account.
