If your Samsung Smart TV is a supported model, try its built-in Peacock app first: it avoids adding another device and remote setup. Roku is a practical alternative if your TV is unsupported or you already prefer Roku’s home screen. Peacock’s setup instructions describe a short install-and-sign-in process for both, but they do not establish that one is universally easier.
First check whether your device supports Peacock
Compatibility is the first question—not ease of use. Peacock lists Samsung Smart TVs from model year 2017 onward as supported. Its Roku list sets thresholds by product family, including Roku Streaming Stick model 3600X or later and Roku TV or Smart Soundbar model 5000X or later. These are eligibility thresholds, not recommendations for what to buy. Check Peacock’s current supported devices and platforms against your exact model.

How the setup compares
| What you do | Samsung Smart TV | Roku |
|---|---|---|
| Find the app | Search apps from the TV home screen, or open the TV’s app store and search for Peacock. | From the Roku home screen, open Streaming Store, choose Search, and search for “Peacock.” |
| Install | Select Peacock and download it. | Select the Peacock icon, choose Add App, and wait for it to download. |
| Start watching | Open Peacock, then sign in or choose a plan. | Open Peacock, then sign in or follow the signup flow. |
| Extra equipment on a Samsung TV | None beyond the supported TV. | A separate Roku device connects to an HDMI input and needs initial setup. |
Peacock provides the Smart TV instructions and Roku instructions. If your set is supported and you are comfortable with Samsung’s home screen, the built-in route has fewer equipment steps. If you already know Roku’s menus, familiarity may make that interface feel more natural; that is a personal preference, not a measured usability advantage.

Signing in and entering an activation code
On either TV app, choose Sign In. Peacock may display an activation code; sign in to your Peacock account in a browser on a phone, tablet, or computer, then enter the code on Peacock’s device activation page. Peacock says a code is generally needed for a new device or after you have signed out.

Using Roku with a Samsung TV
A Roku player adds a box or stick, an HDMI connection, and an input selection on the Samsung TV. Samsung says its universal remote should be able to control a connected streaming-device interface, although initial setup may be needed. Instructions are available for controlling third-party devices and setting up connected devices. The exact steps and menu labels can vary by TV and device.
Accessibility: screen readers, captions, and audio description
Peacock says it works with screen-reader technology to help visually impaired users navigate the app. For Roku, use the remote’s Star button to open options, then go to Settings > Accessibility > Screen Reader. On Samsung, the listed path is Settings > All Settings > General and Privacy > Accessibility > Voice Guide Settings. Menu wording can differ between device generations. See Peacock’s screen-reader instructions for more detail.
