pCloud Lifetime can make sense if you want a large personal cloud-storage allotment without another annual renewal—but “Lifetime” is not a promise of service forever. pCloud defines it as a one-time payment covering the account holder’s lifetime or 99 years, whichever is shorter. Whether it is a good buy depends on the checkout price in your country, the tier’s traffic limits, and whether its features fit your workflow.
This is a purchase-decision review, not a firsthand account: no personal plan, purchase date, price paid, or hands-on testing is established here. Feature and security descriptions below are attributed to pCloud, not presented as independent test results.

What does pCloud Lifetime actually mean?
pCloud’s billing help defines the term as “One-time payment for 99 years or the lifetime of the account holder, whichever is shorter.” That is the relevant contract framing: a single payment buys access for the shorter of those two periods, not a literal guarantee of service forever. pCloud’s billing explanation is the source for that definition.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThere is a separate account-inactivity distinction. pCloud’s published policy says its 12-month inactivity deletion rule applies to free Basic accounts, not paid or Lifetime members. That policy should not be read as a guarantee against every possible account-access issue, suspension, termination, or service change. See pCloud’s inactivity policy.

Which Lifetime tier fits your storage needs?
pCloud’s official pricing page lists individual Lifetime capacities of 500 GB, 2 TB, and 10 TB. Capacity is only part of the comparison: the service’s help article also sets plan-specific limits for shared-link traffic and upload traffic.
| Plan | Storage | Shared-link traffic per month | Upload traffic within 30 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | 500 GB | 1,000 GB | Up to 1 TB |
| Premium Plus | 2 TB | 4 TB | Up to 4 TB |
| Ultra | 10 TB | 20 TB | Up to 4 TB |
The 10 TB tier increases storage and monthly shared-link traffic, but the published upload allowance remains up to 4 TB within 30 days, the same stated limit as Premium Plus. If you mostly store and sync a personal library, storage may be the deciding factor; if you regularly upload or distribute large files, compare traffic allowances too. pCloud’s traffic-limit help page explains the allowances.

What price should you use to judge the deal?
Prices vary across pCloud’s localized and promotional pages, so a figure from one page is not a universal or permanent price. A U.S.-dollar promotional page surfaced prices of $199 for 500 GB, $399 for 2 TB, and $1,190 for 10 TB; these are a dated snapshot, not a guarantee of the amount shown at checkout in every region. Confirm the price and currency for your location before deciding. Check pCloud’s current pricing page.

What features does pCloud advertise?
pCloud’s pricing page advertises file syncing, recovery of files from up to 30 days ago, previous file versions, password-protected sharing, shared-folder collaboration, file requests, branded links, media playback, offline access, phone-gallery and desktop backup, and third-party backup or transfer. It also describes pCloud Photos and pCloud Docs. These are vendor-advertised features; the listing does not establish how reliably any feature performs in a particular person’s setup. See pCloud’s feature descriptions.
For a buying decision, check the workflows you expect to use rather than treating a long feature list as a substitute for testing. In particular, weigh the recovery window and versioning against your need to restore older files, and consider whether the sharing controls and device workflows match how you organize and send files.

How should you think about pCloud’s security claims?
pCloud’s pricing page claims TLS/SSL channel protection and 256-bit AES encryption. Its security document describes AES-256 protection for files during and after transfer, TLS/SSL during transfer, and pCloud Crypto as an additional client-side encryption option. The document says files using Crypto are encrypted on the user’s device before transfer and describes a zero-knowledge arrangement for Crypto. These are pCloud’s published descriptions, not an independent audit or verification. pCloud’s security information and its security and GDPR document provide the vendor’s descriptions.

Why keep a separate backup copy?
A cloud-storage account is not a reason to keep irreplaceable files in only one place. CISA recommends backing up data frequently and identifies an external hard drive or a properly vetted cloud service as possible backup media. For an external drive, CISA advises keeping it in a safe place and disconnecting it when it is not actively being used for backups, which reduces exposure to ransomware. A portable external hard drive can provide a separate local copy; choose capacity and a backup schedule based on the amount and importance of your data. Read CISA’s ransomware guidance.
Who is a Lifetime plan a sensible choice for?
- It may suit you if you expect to use cloud storage for years, prefer a one-time payment over recurring billing, and have checked that the storage and traffic tier fit your usage.
- It may be a poor fit if you need a literal perpetual guarantee, expect your capacity or upload needs to exceed the published limits, or have not confirmed the current localized checkout price.
- It should not be your only safeguard for important files; maintain a separate backup copy and consider how you would recover data if an account or service became inaccessible.
The strongest case for buying is therefore practical rather than absolute: a suitable tier at a price whose break-even works for your expected use, with realistic expectations about the term, traffic limits, security model, and backups.
