These are implementation details reported by Roberto Luna on DEV Community on October 6, 2026, not independently verified claims about the current repository or a deployed release. Why change PcDevice search?
The walkthrough addresses two separate gaps: numeric queries longer than a collaborator number could be routed to collaborator results, and device records had no described way to search by invoice number or purchase order. The reported fix narrows the collaborator-number pattern and adds invoice metadata to the device model and search flow.

How does the collaborator-number limit work?
The reported pattern changed from /^d{3,}$/ to /^d{3,6}$/. The first pattern accepts any numeric string of at least three digits; the revised one accepts only three through six digits. The author’s example was a seven-digit query that returned collaborator results even though collaborator numbers were limited to six digits. Under the revised rule, a longer numeric query does not match the collaborator-number pattern and falls through to generic device search.

This is a routing rule, not proof that every longer number will find the intended device. The walkthrough does not establish the complete search dispatcher order, what happens at every boundary, or whether the generic search can match ticket IDs.

What invoice and purchase-order data was added?
The walkthrough reports adding two nullable fields to the Prisma PcDevice model: invoiceNumber and purchaseOrder. They represent distinct pieces of purchase metadata, labeled “Factura” and “ODC (Orden de Compra)” in the described interface. Corresponding nullable properties were also added to the PcDeviceRow interface in the device-store hook so the values could flow to the UI.
Because both fields are nullable, a device record can lack either value. The article says the detail sheet renders a row for each field only when that field has a value; it does not describe a requirement to populate both.

How does invoice-number search work?
The author describes an isInvoiceNumber helper that recognizes strings of 5–12 alphanumeric characters, without case sensitivity. The reported query searches invoiceNumber using Prisma contains with insensitive matching, so the described lookup is a case-insensitive substring search rather than an exact-match-only lookup.

The 5–12 character range is a pcview implementation heuristic, not a general invoice-number standard. Invoice formats vary, and the walkthrough does not establish how overlapping search branches are prioritized or how whitespace and punctuation are handled. It also does not report database indexes, query performance, or deployed behavior.

What does the walkthrough say was tested?
The author reports generating a Prisma migration named add-invoice-fields and says 124 tests passed, including search and device-detail tests. Those are author-reported outcomes; the migration contents and test run were not independently verified, and no commit or repository revision is established by the available article text.
How this differs from invoice-document automation
Searching an inventory record by invoice metadata is different from extracting data from an invoice document and assigning that data to a person, cost object, or invoice field. Perk’s documentation describes a separate PDF-oriented workflow that applies configured regex matching to extracted text and maps matches to records or invoice fields.
