How much does PayPal Instant Transfer cost?
PayPal’s US consumer fee schedule lists Instant Transfer at 1.75% of the withdrawal, subject to a $0.25 minimum and $25 maximum for USD. The fee is deducted from the amount transferred. These figures apply to US personal-account balance withdrawals; they should not be assumed to apply to business accounts, other countries, or other currencies. Because the fee has both a floor and a cap, it is not exactly 1.75% for every withdrawal. For example, at the published rate, a $100 transfer costs $1.75 and a $1,000 transfer costs $17.50. A sufficiently small transfer is subject to the $0.25 minimum; on a USD withdrawal, the fee does not exceed $25. These examples are calculations from PayPal’s published rate and limits, not separate quoted fees.
Is PayPal Instant Transfer free?
No. Instant Transfer is the paid option. PayPal lists standard withdrawals to eligible linked bank accounts and debit cards as free when no currency conversion applies. If both options are available for your destination, the choice is generally paying for faster access or waiting for the free standard transfer. PayPal’s Balance Terms describe the fee distinction.

How fast is each transfer option?

Timing is not guaranteed. Weekends, holidays, account reviews, settlement, and the receiving bank’s processing can affect when money arrives. PayPal’s Instant Transfer eligibility information and standard transfer help describe the options and expected timing.
Which banks and cards can receive Instant Transfer?
PayPal does not make every linked destination eligible. The eligible accounts and cards appear in the transfer flow, and limits depend on the destination and account. PayPal’s US eligibility page lists up to $25,000 per instant bank transfer. For cards, it lists a $1 minimum, up to $5,000 per transaction, day, and week, and up to $15,000 per month. How to check the fee before you transfer
- Open PayPal and choose the option to transfer or withdraw money from your PayPal Balance.
- Select an eligible linked bank account or debit card. PayPal shows the destinations available to your account.
- Choose Instant Transfer or standard transfer, then review the fee, amount, and estimated timing shown on screen.
- Confirm only if the displayed fee and destination are right. PayPal says the applicable Instant Transfer fee is disclosed before you initiate the withdrawal; currency conversion or destination-specific eligibility can affect the details.
What the fee does—and does not—cover
The 1.75% charge discussed here applies to moving a PayPal Balance to an eligible linked bank account or debit card with Instant Transfer. It is not a general PayPal charge for sending money to another person or paying a merchant. The rate above is specifically for US personal-account USD withdrawals; consult the applicable PayPal fee schedule for a different account type, country, or currency.
