Paper Rex lost 0–2 to LOUD in the upper-bracket quarterfinal at VALORANT Champions 2026, with close map scores of 9–13 on Split and 13–15 on Sunset. That result was a serious setback, but it did not by itself eliminate Paper Rex from the tournament or establish that the roster’s run together was over. The available match listings do not consistently confirm what happened in the subsequent lower-bracket series against T1, and no roster-breakup or retirement announcement was identified.
Paper Rex’s confirmed Champions 2026 results
Paper Rex opened the group stage with a 2–1 win over Team Liquid on September 24, then beat G2 Esports 2–1 in the group winner’s match on September 29. Its upper-bracket quarterfinal against LOUD on October 7 ended in a 0–2 loss. VLR.gg’s match results record the maps as follows: VLR.gg match results.

Did the LOUD loss eliminate Paper Rex?
No. Losing an upper-bracket quarterfinal sent Paper Rex to a lower-bracket match; it was not, on its own, tournament elimination. The available listings conflict over the later T1 series: a same-day Dot Esports report says Paper Rex’s run ended after T1 came back on map three, while VLR and the official schedule still showed the fixture as upcoming. Those records do not establish a consistent final result, so the T1 outcome and map scores should be treated as unconfirmed here. Check a current completed match record or official result before relying on them.

“Collapse” is a characterization, not a conclusion demonstrated by the confirmed scoreline. Paper Rex lost both maps to LOUD, but the recorded margins—9–13 and 13–15—do not alone show a late-round breakdown or explain why the team lost. The available evidence does not support attributing the result to discipline, pressure, tactics, or any individual player’s performance.

Sheep Esports attributes a post-match assessment to Paper Rex player Khalish “d4v41” Rusyaidee: “When the enemy surprises us, we crumble when it matters.” The quotation appears in the report’s search-result text; without a verified full article text, it is safer to treat that wording as an attributed excerpt rather than use it as definitive proof of what happened across the series. Does this mark Paper Rex’s final bow?
There is no sourced basis here to call it the roster’s final appearance together. VLR.gg’s team profile snapshot lists Jinggg, invy, f0rsakeN, d4v41, and something as players, with alecks as coach. A profile lineup is a snapshot, not confirmation of future contracts or roster continuity. Paper Rex’s official news page is the relevant place to check for organization announcements; the evidence available for this article contains no breakup or retirement announcement.

The distinction matters: a team can be out of a tournament without its roster ending. Until Paper Rex or the players announce a change, “final bow” remains a question, not a reported fact.
