When a sunset pulls your attention away from the quest, pause and use Photo Mode to capture it. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, Photo Mode supports screenshots and lets you set the weather and time of day, so you can frame the view before heading back on your way.
Make the sunset a screenshot, not a detour
The Remastered update expands Photo Mode with controls for weather and time of day, making it possible to shape a scene around the light you noticed. The game’s support page describes the mode as a way to take screenshots. It is a way to save the moment; there is no evidence that it changes ordinary gameplay or stops scenery from catching your eye.

No broad claim is needed: stopping for a sunset is a personal reaction, not an established problem shared by all players. A PC Gamer writer described “stopping regularly just to survey a sunset skybox” in an October 2026 piece. That is one reviewer’s observation, not a statistic about the player base.

It is easy to understand the impulse to stop and look. You can take the screenshot, enjoy the pause, and then carry on with the quest rather than treating the detour as something the game needs to fix.
What “Remastered” means for current owners
CD PROJEKT RED says The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered became available on September 29, 2026, as a free upgrade for existing owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The publisher says the release replaces Complete Edition on supported platforms and includes both expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

So if you already own an eligible copy, you should not need to buy an older Complete Edition to get the update. The publisher’s September 29, 2026 availability announcement has the platform and upgrade details; its 2023 retail announcement concerns the earlier physical Complete Edition release, not a purchase requirement for Remastered.

Should you change graphics settings?
The official update notes describe platform-specific graphics and performance choices, along with HDR calibration changes. They do not establish that one mode makes sunsets less distracting or looks best for every player. The right choice depends on your platform, display, and whether you prefer visual fidelity or performance; HDR calibration also depends on your screen and setup. Choose based on those trade-offs rather than expecting a universal sunset setting.
