Watering and Farming need a more situational choice because the cited 1.0 guide does not establish one universal leader for either job.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Palworld servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
Many of those leaders are World Tree or boss encounters. Early bases should use the best Pal you can obtain, then transition when a late-game specialist, a partner-skill bonus, a Pal Condenser upgrade, or a handbook investment changes the calculation.

Best Pal for each work suitability at a glance
The table separates the named 1.0 recommendations from jobs where the available guide does not identify a single winner. “Secondary jobs” matter because a Pal that can switch to another useful task often contributes more over a full in-game day than a narrowly focused specialist.
| Job | Primary 1.0 pick | Useful alternative or qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling | Bastigor | Wumpo for a Transporting boost |
| Gathering | Venusa | Verdash for flexibility |
| Generating Electricity | Oserk | Grizzbolt when handbooks are unavailable |
| Handiwork | Solenne | Sekhmet when paired with Anubis |
| Kindling | Dupin | Renjishi for higher Kindling |
| Lumbering | Celesdir Noct | Knocklem Ignis or Cryolinx Terra for mixed duties |
| Mining | Knocklem Ignis | Anubis for Mining plus Handiwork |
| Medicine Production | Silvance | Lyleen Noct; normal Lyleen with handbooks |
| Planting | Dandilord | Ophydia for Planting and Watering |
| Transporting | Mimog | Wumpo or Eidrolon for different base needs |
| Watering | No single leader established by the cited guide | Ophydia is named as a dual Planting/Watering option |
| Farming | No single leader established by the cited guide | Choose a ranch-focused Pal that fits your footprint |
This is a starting roster, not a permanent tier list. Suitability levels, partner skills, body size, pathing and the jobs your base actually performs can all change the best assignment.

How work suitability works
Palworld bases recognize 12 suitability types: Kindling, Watering, Planting, Generating Electricity, Handiwork, Gathering, Lumbering, Mining, Medicine Production, Cooling, Transporting and Farming. A Pal assigned to a base automatically seeks facilities matching its suitability. A higher suitability level completes that task faster; it does not automatically make the Pal the best overall worker.
What each job controls
- Kindling: cooks food and operates heat-based facilities such as ore refineries.
- Watering: tends crops and runs water-powered structures.
- Planting: sows farm plots.
- Generating Electricity: powers generators.
- Handiwork: crafts items and builds structures.
- Gathering: harvests crops and other gatherable resources.
- Lumbering: cuts wood at logging facilities.
- Mining: extracts stone and ore.
- Medicine Production: crafts medicines.
- Cooling: operates refrigerators and other chilled storage.
- Transporting: carries dropped items to storage.
- Farming: produces ranch items.
PAL-HUB’s Paldex data version v28+25247047 lists 44 Kindling Pals (maximum suitability 8), 46 Watering (8), 46 Planting (8), 25 Generating Electricity (8), 109 Handiwork (8), 111 Gathering (8), 64 Lumbering (8), 57 Mining (8), 43 Medicine Production (8), 38 Cooling (8), 148 Transporting (maximum 7), and 29 Farming (maximum 4). Those are roster counts in that database snapshot, not a promise that every Pal is equally easy to catch or equally useful at a base.
Best Pals by job
Cooling: Bastigor
Bastigor (No. 191) is the guide’s top Cooling recommendation and starts with Cooling 8, the highest starting suitability cited for the job. It also has Lumbering 6 and Mining 5, so it can contribute when chilled storage is idle. Bastigor is a World Tree Ice Pal, which makes it an endgame target rather than an early-base solution.
Wumpo is the practical alternative when the base needs logistics as much as refrigeration. Its partner skill raises base Transporting suitability by +1. That bonus can outweigh a small difference in raw Cooling if your refrigerators are already keeping up but dropped materials are piling up.
Gathering: Venusa
Venusa (No. 178) is a World Tree Dark Pal with Gathering 6, Handiwork 6, Medicine Production 5 and Transporting 2. The recommendation favors that spread over a Pal that only gathers: Venusa can harvest, craft medicines, help at a workbench and move items without being reassigned every few minutes.
Verdash is the flexible alternative. Use it when you value a general-purpose base worker or cannot yet obtain Venusa. Keep the assignment narrow if your farm produces more than one Pal can gather efficiently; mixed duties are an advantage only when the secondary stations have real downtime.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Generating Electricity: Oserk
Oserk (No. 187), a World Tree Dragon/Electric Pal, has Generating Electricity 8, Handiwork 3 and Transporting 4. It is the strongest listed generator operator and still has useful work to do when batteries are full.
Grizzbolt is the practical replacement when handbooks are unavailable. The guide does not assign Grizzbolt a competing numeric ranking, so treat it as an access and progression choice rather than proof that it surpasses Oserk. Put your generator near the facilities it powers and leave a clear route so an Electric Pal does not spend its shift navigating around large structures.
Handiwork: Solenne
Solenne (No. 182) starts with Handiwork 8, Mining 3 and Transporting 2. Its secondary skills let it mine or haul during crafting downtime, while the high Handiwork level keeps building and production queues moving. Solenne is a World Tree Dark/Neutral Pal, so most players will use an earlier crafter until the World Tree becomes reachable.

Sekhmet is the specialist alternative when your base already uses Anubis. Its passive improves Anubis work speed, making the pair more valuable than two unrelated Handiwork Pals in an Anubis-centered production base. This is a partner-skill decision, not a claim that Sekhmet has a higher raw Handiwork level than Solenne.

Kindling: Dupin
Dupin has Kindling 7, Handiwork 5, Medicine Production 4 and Transporting 2. The guide notes one Dupin spawn point on every Palpagos island, giving it unusually broad availability for a high-level Kindling worker. It can smelt, cook, craft and haul instead of waiting beside a furnace all day.
Renjishi is the higher-Kindling alternative when maximum furnace speed is the only priority. Choose Dupin for a compact mixed base, and switch to Renjishi when refinery throughput is the bottleneck and the other stations already have dedicated workers.
Lumbering: Celesdir Noct
Celesdir Noct (No. 157b) is a World Tree Dark Pal with Lumbering 8 and Gathering 4. It is the cleanest recommendation for a wood-focused base because the level-8 Lumbering suitability is paired with a useful harvesting fallback.
Knocklem Ignis covers Lumbering and Mining while also bringing Kindling, so it is better when you want one Pal to service several resource stations. Cryolinx Terra is another mixed-duty alternative. Large Pals can obstruct narrow base layouts; leave wider lanes around logging and storage buildings or use a smaller worker when the output difference is modest.
Mining: Knocklem Ignis
Knocklem Ignis (No. 159b) has Mining 7, Transporting 7 and Kindling 5. The guide selects it over a single-purpose level-8 miner because it can extract resources, carry them away and tend heat facilities. That combination often reduces idle time and the number of base slots consumed by logistics.
It is found at Bicornis Islet and the World Tree, so the Bicornis Islet encounter provides a progression route before the final area. Anubis remains a strong alternative when your base values Mining, Handiwork and Transporting in the same worker. A pure Mining 8 Pal can still win in a dedicated ore operation if every other job is already covered.
Medicine Production: Silvance
Silvance (No. 193) is a World Tree boss with Medicine Production 8, Handiwork 6, Planting 6, Gathering 4 and Transporting 2. It can manufacture medicines, craft, sow crops, harvest and haul, making it unusually useful in a medical or farming compound.
Lyleen Noct is the runner-up named by the guide. Normal Lyleen can fill the role if you have handbooks to raise its selected suitability. Keep medicines queued in a dedicated room if possible; switching between a full medicine queue and unrelated crafting can make a theoretically flexible worker look slower than a dedicated specialist.
Rank #3
Planting: Dandilord
Dandilord (No. 194), a World Tree Grass/Dark boss, has Planting 8, Handiwork 6, Medicine Production 6, Gathering 5 and Transporting 3. Its poison-immunity passive is especially useful during World Tree exploration, where environmental hazards can otherwise interrupt the hunt for a base worker.
Ophydia is the useful dual-role alternative because it is named for Planting and Watering. Choose it when you prefer fewer Pals covering both crop stages; choose Dandilord when planting speed is the limiting step and Watering already has a dedicated worker.
Transporting: Mimog
Mimog (No. 144) appears throughout Palpagos and has only Transporting 2 and Gathering 1, yet its movement speed makes it the guide’s practical Transporting choice. A fast low-level carrier can clear scattered drops before they despawn and can outperform a slower high-capacity Pal in a sprawling base.
Wumpo’s partner skill adds +1 base Transporting suitability, which is valuable when many production buildings feed one storage room. Eidrolon is the alternative when carrying capacity matters more than raw travel speed. Keep storage close to production and avoid blocking doorways; path length often determines whether a transporter feels effective.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWatering: use a dual-role choice when no single leader is established
The cited 1.0 recommendation list does not name a definitive Watering champion or provide a verified suitability level for one. Ophydia is the explicitly named Planting/Watering option, so it is the safest evidence-backed recommendation for a crop base that wants one Pal to cover both stages.
For a specialist setup, compare the Watering level shown on the Pal you actually own, then weigh its secondary jobs and body size. Do not assume that a level-8 Watering Pal is automatically better if it spends long periods walking to distant storage or abandoning crops to transport materials.
Farming: choose around the ranch output you need
The guide does not establish a single best Farming Pal. Farming is a ranch production job rather than a station that benefits from the same generalist logic as Handiwork or Mining, and PAL-HUB lists a maximum Farming suitability of 4. Select a ranch worker that fits the specific item you are producing, has a clear path into the ranch, and does not occupy a scarce slot needed by your core production chain.
Because no named 1.0 leader or secondary-job spread is established in the cited material, avoid treating any unverified tier list as definitive. The right choice depends on ranch output, base space and whether you need that Pal elsewhere.

World Tree and boss recommendations are endgame targets. An early base should not sit idle while waiting for Bastigor, Oserk, Solenne, Celesdir Noct, Silvance or Dandilord. Assign the strongest obtainable Pal with the required suitability, then replace it when the new Pal improves a real bottleneck.

Dupin is unusually accessible because the guide reports one spawn point on every Palpagos island. Mimog is found throughout Palpagos, making it a practical early Transporter. Grizzbolt can fill the electricity role when Oserk or the handbooks needed for another optimized setup are unavailable. Verdash provides a flexible Gathering alternative, and Wumpo can improve logistics through its Transporting bonus. These are progression bridges, not guarantees that they match the endgame leader in raw speed.
Andrea Shearon’s PC Gamer guide, updated 14 August 2026, makes the same progression point: “Handbooks make ‘best pal’ lists far more subjective, so don’t sweat it if you don’t see your favorite companions here.” A Pal you have already condensed and trained can be more productive than an uninvested theoretical upgrade.
How to assign Pals for maximum base output
- Identify the bottleneck. Check which queue is stalled: cooking, refining, crop sowing, electricity, crafting, mining, medicine, cooling, storage or ranch production.
- Match the suitability first. A Pal cannot perform a job it lacks, so confirm the icon in its suitability panel before moving it into the base.
- Compare the level and secondary jobs. Use the highest relevant level when a station is permanently busy; use a multi-role Pal when stations alternate between bursts of activity.
- Check the partner skill. Base-wide effects such as Wumpo’s Transporting increase can change the result even when the worker’s printed level is lower.
- Place facilities for pathing. Keep storage near mines, logging sites and production rooms. Give large Pals wider corridors and avoid tight corners that make them abandon tasks.
- Watch the first work cycle. A worker that repeatedly becomes stuck, eats far from the workplace or walks across the base needs a layout change before you replace it.
- Reassign by shift, not by reputation. Move a Pal only when the measured bottleneck changes. A famous specialist that sits idle is consuming a base slot without increasing output.
Specialist versus multi-job Pal
Use a specialist when one facility is continuously occupied and its output gates the rest of the base. The level-8 recommendations for Cooling, Electricity, Handiwork, Lumbering, Medicine Production and Planting are strongest in that situation.

Use a multi-job Pal when work arrives in bursts or when your base has limited slots. Knocklem Ignis illustrates the trade-off: Mining 7 is below a single-specialty Mining 8, but Transporting 7 and Kindling 5 can remove two additional assignments. Venusa’s Gathering, Handiwork and Medicine Production spread serves the same purpose.
Body size is part of the calculation. If two Pals have similar suitability, the smaller or medium-bodied option may deliver more because it reaches stations reliably and does not block doors, storage or crop plots.
Partner skills, Condensers and handbooks change the ranking
Raw suitability is the starting point, not the final ceiling. The Pal Condenser can raise a Pal’s rank, and handbooks can raise a selected work suitability to level 10. Investment can therefore turn a favorite companion into a competitive worker even when its unmodified level is below the guide’s recommendation.
Partner skills can improve a whole base or create a pairing bonus. Wumpo’s +1 Transporting effect is valuable in material-heavy layouts. Sekhmet’s passive is specifically useful alongside Anubis because it boosts Anubis work speed. Evaluate the complete team rather than comparing one number in isolation.
Flying mounts are a separate decision
Work suitability does not determine the best flying mount. Jetragon (No. 202) remains the fast, accessible recommendation in the cited guide. Eidrolon and Eidrolon Ignis can exceed it with investment, and Liberated Pterosaur provides a 6% speed buff when other Dragon or Dark Pals are in the party. Treat mount speed, stamina and acquisition effort as a separate progression choice from base staffing.
Keeping the guide current
Palworld patches can change rosters, suitability levels, partner skills and encounter locations. The recommendations above use the 1.0 guide updated 14 August 2026 and PAL-HUB’s Paldex data version v28+25247047. PAL-HUB identifies itself as an unofficial fan site, so verify an individual Pal’s current in-game panel after an update before rebuilding an entire base.
When a patch changes a suitability level, keep the same decision process: identify the bottleneck, compare the relevant level with secondary jobs and partner effects, then test pathing in the actual base. That method remains useful even when the roster changes.
