Use AWS to collect telemetry, investigate patterns, and surface possible causes; use PagerDuty to route alerts, manage incidents, and coordinate responders. AI can help connect operational clues to the next step, but its findings are hypotheses to check—not proof of root cause or a guarantee that an incident will be fixed automatically.
How AWS and PagerDuty fit together
Think of the workflow as a chain: operational data becomes signals, signals are analyzed or routed, and responders use the resulting context to act. AWS services handle different parts of that chain. PagerDuty can receive alerts, manage incidents, and provide on-call and escalation context. The integration you choose should match the task; these products do not automatically unify every source of organizational data.

- Collect or analyze signals. AWS services can work with telemetry and operational events, such as metrics, logs, and deployment events.
- Route a signal or investigate it. Depending on the service, AWS can send an alert to PagerDuty or help investigate an incident and surface related context.
- Coordinate response. PagerDuty can bring in the appropriate responders through incidents, schedules, and escalation policies.
- Validate and act. Responders check suggested causes against the underlying telemetry, recent changes, and runbooks before deciding what to do.

Choose the integration by the job it needs to do
| Option | Primary purpose | What it connects or exposes |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Quick connector for PagerDuty | Manage PagerDuty work from Quick workflows, automations, or AI agents | Create, update, and manage incidents, alerts, schedules, and escalation policies through the PagerDuty API; supports user OAuth or service API-key authentication. AWS connector guide |
| PagerDuty Advance MCP in Amazon Quick | Query PagerDuty context and assist with analysis | Incident context and history, runbooks, on-call schedules, and historical trends. AWS names SRE, schedules, and analytics agent tools, while noting that specific tools and capabilities can change. AWS MCP guide |
| CloudWatch investigations | Investigate an incident using AWS telemetry context | Generative-AI assistance that scans telemetry and surfaces potentially related metrics, logs, deployment events, and troubleshooting suggestions. CloudWatch investigations documentation |
| AWS DevOps Agent with PagerDuty | Investigate and support automated response with PagerDuty context | Access to and updates of PagerDuty incident data, on-call schedules, and service information. It requires newer scoped OAuth 2.0; legacy PagerDuty OAuth with a redirect URI is unsupported. AWS DevOps Agent integration guide |
| Incident Manager with PagerDuty | Coordinate response and paging | PagerDuty credentials stored in Secrets Manager, a PagerDuty service added to a response plan, and timeline events attachable as notes. The credential guide specifies a customer-managed KMS key and required permissions. Incident Manager integrations · Credential and setup guide |
| Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus with PagerDuty | Send alerts to PagerDuty | PagerDuty as an alert receiver, with its integration key in Secrets Manager and access granted to the Prometheus service. This is alert transport, not an AI analysis feature. Prometheus alerting documentation |

Use AI findings as investigation leads
CloudWatch investigations is an investigation assistant, not a definitive root-cause engine. Amazon Web Services describes it as “a generative AI-powered assistant that can help you respond to incidents in your system.” Its surfaced metrics, logs, deployment events, and troubleshooting suggestions can help responders narrow what to inspect, but the documentation does not establish that it always identifies the cause or resolves incidents autonomously.
#1 Best Overall
- Adjustable Depth: 23-40'' adjustable depth is used for servers and network equipment, ensuring enough space for AV equipment, components, and cabling, while allowing you to access ports and equipment from multiple sides.
- Strong Load Capacity: Ground-Mounted Load Capacity: 500 lbs, Wall-Mounted Load Capacity: 150 lbs. The av rack is made of carbon steel for better weldability performance and can help save space while meeting your need to place multiple devices.
- User-friendly Design: Ergonomic design makes the open frame av rack easier to use. The additional top panel is able to place other items with more available space. Roller design moves anywhere and anytime, is convenient, and is more energy-saving.
- Complete Accessories: We provide the accessories you need, including 2 x Pallets, 145 x M5*10 Cross Head Screws, 4 x Casters, 4 x M10*50 Expansion Screws,10 x M6*12 Cage Nuts, 1 x Grounding Wire, 1 x User Manual.
- Wide Application: The server rack wall mount maximizes the use of available space, suitable for retail venues, classrooms, offices, and other places where space is limited.
Likewise, a PagerDuty-connected agent can provide useful incident history, schedule, or runbook context, but that context should be checked against the live situation. Confirm whether a suggested change matches the service, the relevant deployment, and the approved response procedure before taking action.
Set up access for the workflow you choose
Authentication and permissions are not interchangeable across these integrations. Follow the service-specific setup guide and grant only the access the workflow requires.

- Amazon Quick connector: Choose user OAuth or service API-key authentication as documented for the connector. Review the scopes and access associated with the PagerDuty account or service key. Quick connector setup
- AWS DevOps Agent: Configure the newer scoped OAuth 2.0 integration. Do not rely on legacy PagerDuty OAuth with a redirect URI, which AWS says is unsupported for this integration. DevOps Agent setup
- Incident Manager: Store PagerDuty credentials in Secrets Manager, use the customer-managed KMS key specified by the guide, and configure the required permissions before adding the PagerDuty service to a response plan. Incident Manager credentials and permissions
- Managed Service for Prometheus: Store the PagerDuty integration key in Secrets Manager and allow the Prometheus service to access it. Prometheus alert receiver setup
Test the complete path before production use
Test both the technical connection and the human response. A credential that works is not enough if an alert lacks context, reaches the wrong schedule, or prompts an unsafe automated action.
Recommended Free Tools
- Choose a representative signal and confirm which AWS service collects or analyzes it.
- Verify that the intended integration can access only the necessary PagerDuty data and actions.
- Send a test alert or create a test incident, then check routing, schedule, escalation, and any attached timeline context.
- For AI-assisted investigation, compare suggested context with source telemetry and known deployment events; check runbook guidance before acting.
- Exercise failure cases, including expired or invalid credentials, missing permissions, and unavailable responders, then document the recovery path.
- Recheck service compatibility, permissions, and setup guidance when making changes; the AWS pages note that some agent capabilities may change.
How to decide among the options
- Choose CloudWatch investigations when the need is to explore AWS telemetry and possible incident context.
- Choose Managed Service for Prometheus alerting when the need is to deliver Prometheus alerts to PagerDuty.
- Choose Incident Manager with PagerDuty when the need is AWS response-plan coordination with PagerDuty paging and timeline notes.
- Choose Amazon Quick’s connector or PagerDuty Advance MCP when the need is to query or manage PagerDuty from Quick workflows or agents.
- Consider AWS DevOps Agent when its investigation and automated-response integration fits the intended workflow and its scoped OAuth requirements can be met.
AWS documentation describes these patterns and their setup, but does not provide a comparative performance benchmark. Evaluate them against workflow purpose, exposed data and actions, identity and permissions, integration maintenance, and the responder validation process.
