Oxide Computer Company announced a $445 million Series D on October 9, 2026, led by Eclipse. The company says it will use the capital to buy components, expand manufacturing and meet demand for its rack-scale Cloud Computer. Axios reported a $6 billion valuation for the round; Oxide’s announcement does not state one. Oxide says it reached profitability earlier in 2026, but demand still exceeded production capacity.

Who invested, and what is known about the valuation?

Oxide named existing investors US Innovative Technology Fund, Riot Ventures and Jane Street among the participants. New investors Atreides Management and AMD Ventures joined the round, according to Oxide’s October 9 announcement. Eclipse led the financing.

Axios reported that the round valued Oxide at $6 billion. That figure should be attributed to Axios: it is not in the company’s announcement.

The headline’s approximate $835 million cumulative funding figure is not independently confirmed by the sources available here. Oxide previously announced a $200 million Series C in February 2026, but that alone does not verify a reconciled lifetime total.

Why raise money after reaching profitability?

Profitability and the ability to finance a rapid manufacturing ramp are different things, especially for a company selling large, component-intensive hardware systems. Oxide says it reached profitability earlier in 2026, while customer demand continued to exceed what it could produce. It plans to use the new capital as working capital, including to secure components and increase manufacturing. These profitability and demand statements come from Oxide, not independently audited financial results.

CEO and co-founder Steve Tuck said the company had “scale[d] manufacturing capacity by 20x over the past 12 months” and that demand still exceeded supply. The 20x figure is Oxide’s reported measure, not an independently verified production statistic. Tuck also said the funding would support investment in materials and manufacturing capacity.

What Oxide’s Cloud Computer does

Oxide sells an integrated rack-scale system for organizations that want to run cloud-style infrastructure in their own data center or colocation facility. The Cloud Computer combines compute, storage, networking and software; its goal is to give developers self-service tools and APIs while the organization owns and operates the underlying infrastructure. It is an enterprise installation, not a consumer computer or a simple server purchase.

Oxide’s product specifications describe its second-generation system as using AMD EPYC 9005 Series processors. The listed maximums distinguish between resources available to virtual-machine guests and total rack hardware:

Guest memory 30.6 TiB Memory listed for guest workloads
Rack memory 36 TiB Total memory in the hardware table
Guest NVMe block storage 1.7 PiB Storage listed for guest workloads
Rack storage 6.5 PiB Total storage in the hardware table

These are vendor-listed maximums, not a promise that every delivered configuration has those capacities; Oxide says configurations vary. A rack deployment also requires a suitable facility: the specifications list a maximum weight of about 2,518 pounds, three-phase power, cooling airflow requirements and access clearance.

Who might consider owning this infrastructure?

The model may suit organizations whose workload, control or operating requirements make owned infrastructure attractive. The decision is not simply a choice between a rack and a public-cloud bill. Buyers need to account for who owns and operates the hardware, where workloads and data run, how much integration and maintenance the organization will take on, and whether its facilities can support the rack.

What public-sector buyers should know

On September 24, 2026, Oxide announced that Carahsoft would serve as its Master Government Aggregator. The announcement says the Cloud Computer would be available through Carahsoft reseller partners and the NASA SEWP V and OMNIA Partners contracts. These are procurement routes for government buyers to investigate, not a guarantee of current availability or particular contract terms; confirm details with the channel.

Oxide’s 2023 product announcement named Idaho National Laboratory and a global financial-services organization as customers at that time. That is historical customer context, not a current or complete customer list.
