GIGABYTE support material uses the phrase “Preparation for upcoming processor support,” but it does not name a future consumer CPU or confirm support across every LGA1700 motherboard. “Raptor Lake NEXT” is an interpretation of that wording—not a confirmed Intel product name or launch. For an actual upgrade, check the exact motherboard model and revision, its CPU support list, and the required BIOS version.
What GIGABYTE’s wording confirms—and what it doesn’t
A GIGABYTE support page for the B760M AORUS PRO AX (Rev. 1.x) includes the phrase “Preparation for upcoming processor support.” That is a notice about preparation; the wording available on the page does not identify the processor, give its specifications or launch timing, or establish compatibility for every LGA1700 board. GIGABYTE’s motherboard support page and its CPU Support List should be read as board-specific references, not as a blanket promise.

The official Intel and GIGABYTE material cited here does not confirm a future consumer processor called “Raptor Lake NEXT,” nor does it provide a board-by-board support matrix for such a chip. Treat that name as speculation unless Intel or GIGABYTE publishes an attributable product announcement or CPU support entry.
What is established about LGA1700 compatibility
Intel says its 14th-generation Core desktop processors use the LGA1700 socket and require a motherboard based on an Intel 600- or 700-series desktop chipset. This is documented compatibility for those processors; it is not evidence that an unnamed future CPU will work in the same boards. Intel’s 14th-generation compatibility guidance was last reviewed on February 6, 2025.
#1 Best Overall

- Robust Power & Thermal Design: Engineered with 125W base power and 250W max turbo power to sustain high‑intensity
For upgrades from 12th- or 13th-generation processors to 14th generation, Intel says a BIOS update is required on 600- and 700-series boards. The minimum BIOS can depend on the specific motherboard and processor, so socket and chipset labels alone are not enough to establish that a system will boot with a particular CPU. See Intel’s BIOS guidance for Intel 600- and 700-series chipset motherboards.
How to check a GIGABYTE board before buying a CPU
- Identify the exact board and revision. Read the model and revision printed on the motherboard or shown in the system documentation. A product family name alone may not be specific enough.
- Open that board’s GIGABYTE support page. Select its CPU support list and look for the exact processor model. Do not assume an upcoming-processor notice applies to other boards.
- Check the minimum BIOS version listed for that CPU. Compare it with the BIOS currently installed. If an update is needed, follow the instructions for the exact board before replacing the processor.
- Confirm the update method if the current CPU cannot be used. Check the board manual and support page for whether it can update BIOS without a compatible processor; do not assume that feature is present.
- Buy only after the processor appears in the board’s official support information. If the CPU is not listed, compatibility is not established by the generic preparation wording.
Don’t confuse LGA1700 with Intel’s newer desktop socket
Intel Core Ultra desktop processors Series 2 use LGA1851, which Intel says is incompatible with LGA1700. Similar-looking dimensions or broad “next generation” language do not make the sockets interchangeable. Check Intel’s LGA1851 and LGA1700 socket incompatibility guidance before choosing parts.

- Performance Hybrid Architecture Integrates two core microarchitectures, prioritizing and distributing workloads to optimize performance
- Performance Unlocked Up to 5.7 GHz unlocked. 40MB Cache
- Compatibility Compatible with Intel 800 series chipset-based motherboards
What remains unconfirmed
- The exact model name and specifications of the future consumer processor suggested by GIGABYTE’s wording.
- Whether or when such a processor will launch.
- Which GIGABYTE LGA1700 motherboards, if any, will support it and what BIOS versions they would require.
Those details need to come from an official product announcement and the CPU support list for each specific motherboard. Until then, the support note is not enough to make a purchase decision.
