To make Outlook contacts appear in a Samsung phone’s Contacts app, use Outlook for Android and enable Sync Contacts for the relevant account. This sends Outlook contacts to the phone’s address book; edits made in Samsung Contacts do not sync back to Outlook for Android.

Open Outlook on your Samsung phone and tap Settings.

Turn on Sync Contacts.

If the switch is disabled and Outlook reports that system contact sync is off, open Android Settings and enable Auto sync data in the Accounts area. Menu names and locations vary by Android version and device; use Settings search for “Accounts” if you cannot find it. Microsoft’s Outlook for Android contact sync guidance describes this system setting requirement.

In Android app settings, confirm Outlook has permission to access Contacts. Allow time for the account and phone address book to sync.
Once enabled, Outlook contacts are available to the Android Contacts app and other apps that use the device address book. Microsoft says Outlook searches both the Android address book and the Outlook address book when you compose an email.

Understand which direction contacts sync
This feature is not a full two-way editing sync. Microsoft says new contacts and edits made in Outlook for Android are saved to the device Contacts app when Sync Contacts is on. Changes made directly in the phone’s Contacts app are not saved back to Outlook for Android. If you need a change reflected in Outlook, make it in Outlook rather than relying on an edit in Samsung Contacts.
Choose an app setup for contacts and email

For work or school accounts, Exchange access or additional setup may be controlled by an administrator. Microsoft recommends the Outlook mobile app for managing email and calendar; consult your organization if the account cannot be added or contact sync is unavailable.

Fix common contact-sync problems

Contacts do not appear: In Outlook Settings, select the intended account and check that Sync Contacts is on. Also verify Outlook’s Contacts permission in Android app settings.

The contact-sync switch is unavailable: Enable Android’s Auto sync data option under Accounts, then return to Outlook. The precise route differs across Samsung software and Android releases; search Settings for “Accounts.”

You added the account in Samsung Email, but contacts are missing: Check the account type. Exchange or Exchange ActiveSync is the relevant setup for contacts and calendar; an IMAP or POP configuration syncs email only. Microsoft’s Samsung Email account setup information explains the account-type distinction.

Phone-side edits do not appear in Outlook: That is expected with Outlook for Android’s contact export behavior. Make the edit in Outlook if it needs to be saved to Outlook.

What about Samsung Kies?
Older Samsung documentation describes a Kies desktop workflow for syncing contacts with Outlook. It is historical guidance, not evidence of a current recommended phone-sync method. Microsoft’s current Android instructions use Outlook for Android or an Exchange-capable Android mail setup.
