OriginOS 7’s advertised differences are most visible in multitasking, animation and interface design, AI tools, personalization, and connections to other devices. But the announcement does not mean every Vivo phone—or every market—will get it. Vivo’s Funtouch OS page outlines broad design principles rather than a current, version-matched comparison, so the practical answer depends on your exact phone, software build, and region.
What changes in everyday use?
Vivo’s OriginOS 7 materials describe a collection of interface and workflow changes, not just a new visual theme. The company’s global announcement and feature page list these areas, with support varying by device, software version, market, language, and compatible apps.

Multitasking with Origin Workbench
Origin Workbench is presented as a unified task space for coordinating up to five active applications. That may make it easier to move between tasks, but the announcement does not establish that every Vivo model can run five apps this way or that the experience is identical across devices. Motion and interface design
Origin Animation uses physics-inspired interactions. Vivo also highlights Dynamic Glow, Immersive Home, translucent materials, and system haptics as parts of OriginOS 7’s interface. These are vendor-described design features; the published materials do not provide a controlled comparison of animation quality against a matching Funtouch OS phone. AI and productivity tools
Vivo lists Jovi assistance, Snap Note for turning photographed notes or presentation material into editable documents, AI summaries and call tools, AI Search, and Snap & Go. These functions are not universal: availability can depend on phone, market, language, software version, and the apps involved. Check the feature listing for the exact model and region rather than assuming that an AI feature shown in promotional material works on your device. Personalization, gaming, and comfort
The listed personalization options include Wiggle Theme, Glint Theme, StickIt, Pet Pals, and Always-On Display live updates, subject to model and regional exceptions. Vivo also describes Ultra Game Mode, glare protection, 4D game vibration, Nighttime Eye Protection, audio redirect, battery estimates, standby behavior, and bypass charging. How is Funtouch OS different?
Vivo’s China Funtouch OS page describes a design philosophy called “Original Design”: balanced, watercolor-like colors; balanced icon expression; intuitive interactions inspired by the physical world; and motion effects intended to make form follow function. Will your Vivo phone get OriginOS 7?
Vivo’s September 24, 2026 announcement says OriginOS 7 will be available on the vivo X500 Series and new X Fold and V Series devices. It does not provide a complete global update list for existing phones. Vivo also says availability and supported features may vary by device, software version, and market; further Philippines availability details are to be announced through official channels. - Find the full model name and regional variant of your phone; a series name alone is not enough to confirm eligibility.
- Check the local Vivo support page or official update notice for that exact model and market.
- Confirm the announced software version and the features supported on your device, including any language, app, or accessory requirements.
Until Vivo publishes a model-specific notice for your market, treat an upgrade for an existing phone as unconfirmed.

Before buying, verify the exact variant and the software it ships with in your local listing, then check whether features important to you are supported in that market.

- Model and software: Confirm the precise variant and its shipped operating system, not just the product-family name.
- Update eligibility: Look for an official local notice naming that model; a launch announcement for a series is not a complete update schedule.
- Services and accessories: Check compatibility with the Google or Apple ecosystem tools, computers, tablets, and accessories you actually use.
- AI support: Verify language and regional availability, as well as any app or device requirements.
OriginOS 7 describes Office Kit connections with compatible computers and tablets, selected iCloud access, AirPods information, and Apple Watch features. Vivo says Apple Watch connectivity is a future over-the-air feature for specified newer device lines and compatible watch models, so it should not be treated as an active capability on every phone. How should you read Vivo’s performance claims?
Vivo reports a 10% reduction in app cold-start time, an 11% improvement in app page switching, 60% greater memory reclamation, up to 25 GB of additional storage on a 256 GB device under its test conditions, and a 14.4% improvement in rendering efficiency. These are Vivo-reported figures from 2026, not independent results from a controlled OriginOS 7-versus-Funtouch OS test. Vivo’s global announcement
Vivo also reports that OriginOS 7 passed a 72-month anti-aging test in its labs. That is a lab-test claim, not a guarantee that every phone will remain perfectly smooth for six years. Its feature page reports up to 26% longer connected standby, up to 20% lower graphics-rendering power use, and up to 3% battery lifespan extension for Bypass Charging 3.0; Vivo attributes these figures to lab tests and limits the features to selected models. Vivo’s OriginOS Global Product Planning Director, Colling Cheung, described the release as taking the previous standard “even further” toward “mastery of smoothness, smartly redefined.” That is Vivo’s positioning, not independent comparative evidence. Vivo’s global announcement
