OpenLogi is the clearest alternative to Logitech Options+ if you want local configuration or Linux support—but it is still under active development and is not yet stable. Logitech Options+ remains the official, more feature-rich choice for app-specific actions, gestures and Flow. Which one fits depends on your exact mouse, operating system and the controls you need.
Which Logitech mouse customization tool should you choose?
| Option | Best fit | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| OpenLogi | Local-first setup, Linux support, device-level HID++ controls and plain-text TOML configuration. | Under active development and not yet stable; available controls vary by device. The repository describes Windows as an early, untested preview. |
| Logitech Options+ | Official Logitech software with mouse button customization, app-specific actions, gestures, pointer and scrolling controls, and Flow. | Logitech’s page lists downloads for Windows 10 or later and macOS 14 or later. Features and availability may change. |
| Solaar | A relevant Linux option for managing Logitech receiver devices. | OpenLogi’s installation guide says Solaar and OpenLogi compete for receiver access; they cannot control the same receiver simultaneously. |
These are descriptions from the projects and Logitech, not results of an independent head-to-head test. Compare your exact mouse and needed controls first, then consider operating-system support and how much setup you are comfortable with.

What OpenLogi can do—and what it does differently
OpenLogi configures supported Logitech devices over the HID++ protocol. Its documentation describes mouse button remapping, DPI adjustment, SmartShift, scrolling and lighting controls, with settings stored in a plain-text TOML file. Button remapping uses an operating-system input hook. It can connect through Bolt, Unifying and Lightspeed receivers, Bluetooth directly, or USB. See the OpenLogi documentation for project details and current caveats.
This local configuration approach is different from the app-focused conveniences Logitech advertises for Options+, including app-specific actions, gestures and Flow. OpenLogi is not documented as a drop-in replacement with feature parity: support depends on the model and its reported controls.

Does OpenLogi support your Logitech mouse?
OpenLogi’s supported-device list includes many models, among them the MX Master 3S, MX Master 4, MX Anywhere models and Lift. A mouse appearing on the list does not mean every OpenLogi feature works with it; the page reports controls by device. Non-Logitech hardware and writing onboard-memory profiles for Logitech G-series devices are not supported.
For a connected device, OpenLogi documents these commands for checking what it detects and what controls it reports:

Operating-system support and setup conflicts
Linux
OpenLogi is especially relevant if you need Linux support. Installation documentation describes udev permissions required for HID++ commands and input remapping, so setup may require more than launching an application. On Linux, Solaar can also conflict with OpenLogi when both try to access the same receiver.

Windows
The OpenLogi repository characterizes its Windows build as an early, untested preview. Treat that as experimental rather than established support. Logitech lists Options+ downloads for Windows 10 or later.
macOS
Logitech lists Options+ downloads for macOS 14 or later. OpenLogi’s documentation describes supported connections and controls, but its current platform maturity should be checked in the project’s live documentation before choosing it for a Mac setup.

Do not run receiver-contending apps together
Quit Logitech Options+ before launching OpenLogi: only one application can own a receiver at a time. The same receiver-access conflict applies to Solaar on Linux. Consult the installation guide for setup and permissions details.
