Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Open Scrobbler lets you manually add selected tracks to your Last.fm listening history. It is useful for recording music you heard on radio, vinyl, or elsewhere without a compatible automatic scrobbler; it is not a music player or a streaming subscription.
What Open Scrobbler does
The Open Scrobbler project describes its purpose as letting people scrobble songs heard on the radio, on vinyl, or “at some place where you need to manually scrobble.” In practical terms, you log in and submit the tracks you want recorded. The project’s shorthand is: “Just login and scrobble the track(s) you want.”

A scrobble is listening information sent by a client to a Last.fm profile. Last.fm’s API documentation explains that write services require authentication and describes sending a now-playing update and a scrobble request for a track. Open Scrobbler is a manual client for this Last.fm-oriented workflow, rather than a player that supplies the music.
When manual scrobbling is useful
- Radio: Add identifiable songs you heard when the station or playback device does not automatically send listening data to Last.fm.
- Vinyl: Record tracks from a record after listening, rather than expecting a turntable to detect and submit them.
- Other offline or unsupported listening: Use manual entry when the source does not provide a compatible automatic scrobbling client.
Manual entry depends on you selecting the tracks to submit. It is not automatic playback detection, and the project’s stated examples should not be taken as a guarantee about particular controls or metadata features in the current hosted app.

Open Scrobbler and automatic scrobbling compared
| Tool | Workflow | Best fit | Destination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open Scrobbler | Manually submit selected tracks | Music heard on radio, vinyl, or another source without automatic scrobbling | Last.fm, according to the project repository |
| Web Scrobbler | Automatically captures playback on supported websites | Listening through a supported web music site | Multiple scrobbling destinations, according to the project’s repository |
These tools address different listening situations. Open Scrobbler is a way to add plays that were not captured as they happened; Web Scrobbler is intended to detect playback on supported websites. The available project descriptions do not establish detailed feature parity, browser coverage, or current support status, so check each project’s current documentation for those specifics.
What is known about setup and integrations
The Open Scrobbler repository documents use of the Last.fm API for authentication and queries. Its developer setup lists a Last.fm API key and secret, and describes Discogs and Setlist.fm credentials as optional integrations for that setup. These are repository development details; they do not establish the exact steps an ordinary user must complete on the hosted service or prove that every listed integration is available in its current interface.
