When does buying the Pad first make sense?
A tablet-first purchase is sensible when you already have a working phone and a specific larger-screen need. The Pad 3 is one current example: OnePlus lists a 13.2-inch 3.4K, 144 Hz display and a 12,140 mAh battery. Can a OnePlus Pad replace a phone?

A Pad can complement a phone, but having one does not by itself establish that you can make ordinary cellular calls or use mobile data the same way you do on your specific phone. Confirm the exact tablet configuration and carrier support if cellular connectivity is essential to your plan.
Do you need a OnePlus phone to use a OnePlus Pad?
No general requirement to own a OnePlus phone is established by the product information here. OnePlus’s OxygenOS 16 information says that multitasking with up to five apps is currently exclusive to the OnePlus Pad 3 and Pad 2 running OxygenOS 16. Current regional prices, discounts and stock are not established here, so check OnePlus’s local listings before deciding. Compare the cost of the tablet with any accessory you genuinely need: a keyboard for regular typing or a stylus for handwriting and drawing can change the total.
