Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe May 8, 2025 report about a “new OnePlus Pad 3” appearing at the FCC described an early regulatory clue, not a complete product launch. The filing identified model OPD2415 (FCC ID 2ABZ2-OPD2415) and pointed to wireless-radio testing. OnePlus later confirmed that model as the OnePlus Pad 3, announced for the United States and Canada on June 5, 2025, with sales scheduled for July 8, 2025. This is now a completed product-history story rather than an unresolved rumor.
What “stops through FCC” means
“Stops through FCC” is informal technology-news language for a device appearing in Federal Communications Commission certification records. A filing generally means the product has undergone, or is undergoing, U.S. radio-frequency compliance testing. It is useful evidence that a manufacturer is preparing hardware for possible U.S. distribution, but it is not the same as a launch announcement.

- It does not establish the final marketing name.
- It does not confirm a release date, retail price, processor or complete specification sheet.
- It does not guarantee that the product will be sold publicly in the United States.
- It does not prove performance, battery life, display quality or software support.
FCC documents concentrate on radio compliance and may expose model numbers, labels, antennas and test information. Consumer features usually come from the manufacturer’s later announcement and product page.

The filing was associated with model OPD2415 and FCC ID 2ABZ2-OPD2415. The certification label and related material connect that model with the OnePlus Pad 3 name: FCC label and related certification document.

That connection was not certain on May 8. Contemporary coverage discussed the possibility of a Pad 3, Pad 3R or a higher-end variant because an FCC model number does not automatically reveal the retail branding. The later OnePlus announcement resolved the uncertainty. OPD2415 corresponded to the commercially launched OnePlus Pad 3.
It is also important not to confuse OPD2415 with the original OnePlus Pad, model OPD2203, whose FCC documentation dates from 2023: OPD2203 FCC document.

What the FCC material suggested about connectivity
Reports at the time described Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. Some interpretations also raised NFC or wireless charging, but those were possibilities discussed around the filing, not confirmed standard features of the final retail tablet. OnePlus’s final specification page lists Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 with speeds up to 5Gbps. The cited North American configuration is Wi-Fi-only; FCC approval should not be interpreted as evidence of cellular service. The official specifications do not establish NFC or wireless charging as standard Pad 3 capabilities: OnePlus Pad 3 specifications.

What was known then, and what was confirmed later
Reasonable conclusions from the May filing
- A new OnePlus tablet was being prepared for U.S. regulatory approval.
- OPD2415 was the relevant model number.
- Wireless-radio compliance testing was involved.
- A U.S. release was plausible, but not guaranteed.
- The commercial name and final hardware were still unsettled.
OnePlus’s later confirmation
On June 5, 2025, OnePlus announced the OnePlus Pad 3 for the United States and Canada. Open sales were scheduled for July 8, 2025. The U.S. launch configuration—12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage—was announced at a $699.99 launch price. That is the documented launch MSRP, not a verified August 2026 transaction price. Details are in OnePlus’s U.S./Canada announcement.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the FCC filing did not reveal
The filing did not, on the evidence available, provide a complete answer about the display, Snapdragon processor, RAM, storage, battery capacity, cameras, software version, accessories, price, launch timing, international availability or performance. It also cannot establish battery endurance, thermals, gaming speed, pen latency or display quality; those require official demonstrations or independent testing.
Practical buying context
Who the Pad 3 suits
- Users wanting a large Android screen for split-screen work, reading, drawing and keyboard use.
- Buyers seeking flagship-class Qualcomm performance.
- People comfortable using Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot instead of cellular data.
- Owners willing to buy a keyboard or stylus separately.
Trade-offs to understand
- The 13.2-inch 7:5 display is useful for productivity but less compact than a small tablet.
- The high-end Snapdragon platform helps explain the $699.99 launch price.
- The listed configuration has no cellular modem.
- There is no conventional headphone jack; wired audio and accessories use USB-C or wireless connections.
- Actual battery runtime depends on brightness, refresh rate, games, network conditions and software.
OnePlus announced the Smart Keyboard at $199.99, Folio Case at $49.99 and OnePlus Stylo 2 at $99.99 in the United States. A tablet, keyboard and Stylo 2 therefore totaled $999.97 before tax at launch; adding all three accessories totaled $1,049.96. These are arithmetic combinations of announced launch prices, not current prices, stock or promotions. The limited preorder offer that included two of three accessories during the June–July 2025 window has expired. See the launch announcement.

- Consider a smaller tablet if portability matters more than workspace.
- Apple’s iPad Air is a different fit for readers invested in Apple services and accessories.
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S models may suit users prioritizing Samsung software, DeX-style workflows or Galaxy-device integration.
- Lower-priced Android tablets are more appropriate for basic streaming, reading and browsing than flagship workloads.
