Capacity is not runtime: the 1,700mAh difference between the announced 16 capacity and the 15’s specified capacity cannot be converted into extra hours without comparable testing. Screen use, software, connectivity, and test conditions affect battery life.

How much longer does the OnePlus 16 last?
There is not enough evidence to say. The 9,000mAh figure is a reported capacity announcement, not a battery-life measurement. OnePlus’s “up to 31 hours” figure applies to its OnePlus 15 video-playback claim; it should not be treated as a baseline that the OnePlus 16 exceeds by a predictable amount.

As of the reports cited above, no matched independent runtime test for both phones establishes which lasts longer in comparable conditions. Claims that the OnePlus 16 will last a particular number of extra hours or days would go beyond the available evidence.

Does the OnePlus 16 charge faster?
Wired charging
The OnePlus 15’s published wired rate depends on market: OnePlus lists 80W SUPERVOOC in the US and 120W SUPERVOOC in India. The OnePlus 16’s final wired charging rate is not established by the cited reports, so a wired-speed winner cannot be named.
OnePlus’s US page separately says up to 100W is possible with its 100W Dual Ports GaN Power Adapter Lite. That accessory figure is not the US phone’s listed 80W wired rate, and it should not be used as a substitute for the phone specification.
Wireless charging
The OnePlus 15 is listed with 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging in both cited regional pages. GSMArena reported 50W wireless charging for the OnePlus 16 on October 2, 2026. On those figures, the reported wireless rates match; the 16 is not shown charging faster.

Wattage alone does not establish how long a phone takes to charge. The cited information does not provide comparable charge-time tests for the two models.

Choose the OnePlus 15 if you need documented specifications now
The OnePlus 15 has published battery and charging specifications, including regional wired rates and OnePlus’s own video-playback claim. It is the more substantiated choice for someone deciding on the basis of information available here.
Wait for the OnePlus 16 if battery life is your deciding factor
The 9,000mAh announcement makes the OnePlus 16 worth watching if capacity matters to you, but wait for final regional specifications and independent runtime and charging tests before upgrading specifically for longer battery life or faster charging. The cited October 2 report said a China debut was expected on October 12, 2026; that was future launch timing in the report, not confirmation of a completed launch or retail availability.
What is still unknown about the comparison?
- The OnePlus 16’s final region-specific wired charging rate.
- Independent, comparable battery-life results for the two phones.
- Comparable measured charge times for wired or wireless charging.
Until those details are established, the evidence supports comparing stated capacities and published or reported charging specifications—not promising a real-world battery-life or speed improvement.
