The OnePlus 15R and POCO X8 Pro Max are large-screen Android phones with flagship-class processor platforms, but they emphasize different specifications. OnePlus lists a 165Hz display and 7,400mAh battery; POCO lists a 120Hz display, an 8,500mAh battery and charging up to 100W with compatible PPS adapters. Those figures help identify what each phone prioritizes, but they do not prove which has better sustained gaming performance, battery life or cameras.
There is no reliable universal price difference without a country, storage configuration, seller and capture date. Compare matching variants under similar warranty and sales conditions before deciding on price.

Specifications and availability can vary by region. OnePlus identifies the 15R platform and its listed memory and storage technologies on its official specifications page. POCO lists the X8 Pro Max configurations and display details on its official specifications page. POCO also notes that 5G connectivity depends on regional availability and local operator support.
How the processors and displays compare
Processor: different platforms, no proven speed winner
The 15R uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, while the X8 Pro Max uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s. Chip names alone cannot establish which phone is faster in sustained gaming, heavier workloads or everyday use. That comparison needs matched tests using the same apps, settings and conditions; the specifications here do not provide them.

OnePlus says its lab data supports a claim of 120 FPS in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang for at least 60 minutes, while warning that frame rates vary with environment and use. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independent head-to-head result against POCO.
Display: OnePlus lists the higher refresh ceiling
OnePlus advertises a refresh rate up to 165Hz, compared with POCO’s up to 120Hz. This makes the 15R the higher-spec choice on maximum refresh rate as listed by the manufacturers. It does not by itself establish a better overall display or guarantee that every app, game or use case will run at the maximum rate. POCO specifies a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with 2772 × 1280 resolution; the supplied OnePlus US specification identifies a 1.5K display.
Battery capacity and charging
POCO lists an 8,500mAh typical battery capacity, while OnePlus lists 7,400mAh. Subtracting those manufacturer figures gives POCO a nominal capacity advantage of 1,100mAh. Capacity is not a battery-life test: screen settings, workload, software and network conditions affect runtime, so the figures do not establish which phone lasts longer in comparable use.

Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePOCO’s product materials report a two-day battery-life claim and usage-hour figures based on POCO Internal Labs’ simulated use scenario, with a warning that results vary. POCO also says the battery retains at least 80% capacity after 1,600 charge cycles under specified test and theoretical conditions, citing TÜV SÜD certification. These are manufacturer-published results, not a matched independent comparison with the OnePlus phone. See POCO’s product page for its stated assumptions.
For charging, OnePlus describes 80W SUPERVOOC test conditions in its notes. POCO advertises up to 100W HyperCharge and up to 100W charging with a PPS-compatible adapter. These are different charging standards and test setups; the top-line wattages do not establish which phone charges faster in practice. POCO says adapter availability in the box varies by region and local seller, so check the exact bundle and confirm that any separate adapter supports the required protocol.

Camera hardware: similar layout, different main sensors
Both phones list a 50MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultrawide. OnePlus identifies its main sensor as the Sony IMX906; POCO names Light Fusion 600. Megapixel counts and sensor names do not establish which camera takes better photos or video. For a camera-led decision, look for comparable daytime, low-light, ultrawide, video, stabilization and selfie samples from both phones.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the OnePlus 15R if the manufacturer’s advertised 165Hz refresh ceiling or OxygenOS 16 is your priority. The available specifications do not prove superior sustained gaming performance.
- Choose the POCO X8 Pro Max if you prioritize its larger listed battery capacity or want a 100W PPS-compatible charging option. Confirm charger inclusion and regional compatibility before purchase.
- For camera quality, compare equivalent photo and video samples rather than deciding from resolution or sensor names.
- For gaming or heavy workloads, look for comparable sustained-performance tests; the processor names and promotional claims are not enough to rank the phones.
- For price, compare the same storage tier in your country, with similar seller, warranty and bundle conditions.
Price difference: compare local, like-for-like offers
A current price difference cannot be stated responsibly without a specified market and matching offers. Prices vary with country, taxes, storage, promotions, seller and warranty channel. A launch price or an aggregator listing without a clear market and date may not reflect what you can buy today.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Select the country or region where you will buy the phone.
- Match storage capacity: compare the same tier where available, rather than a 256GB phone against a 512GB one.
- Check seller identity, warranty coverage, included charger and other bundle contents.
- Record both prices on the same date, including applicable taxes and shipping, before calculating the difference.
A secondary comparison listing reports launch dates of December 17, 2025 for the OnePlus 15R and March 17, 2026 for the POCO X8 Pro Max, but those dates are not corroborated here by primary launch announcements. They should not be treated as verified launch history or as current pricing context.
Software and regional details to check
The product materials name OxygenOS 16 for OnePlus and Xiaomi HyperOS 3 for POCO. Actual software availability and features can depend on region and updates. The available specifications do not establish software-support duration, so check each manufacturer’s terms for the exact market and model before buying if update longevity is a deciding factor.
Quick Recap
- Confirm the exact local model and storage configuration.
- Check regional network-band and carrier compatibility; POCO specifically warns that 5G availability depends on region and operator support.
- Verify the charger and plug supplied by the seller, especially if you expect PPS charging.
- Compare local warranty terms and seller conditions alongside the price.
