The trade-off: the 13 has the higher-resolution screen, and a reviewer found it stronger in some challenging camera scenes. Whether upgrading makes sense depends on which differences you notice and the current price of an equivalent model in your region.

Battery: more capacity, not a guaranteed runtime
OnePlus lists a 7,300mAh battery for the 15 and a 6,000mAh battery for the 13. That is a meaningful increase in stated capacity, but capacity alone does not tell you how many hours either phone will last. Screen use, settings, signal strength, apps and regional variant all affect endurance. The available figures do not establish a controlled, comparable battery-life result, so they should not be read as proof of a particular runtime or percentage gain in daily use.

The OnePlus 15 pairs a 6.78-inch LTPO 1.5K panel with a maximum advertised refresh rate of 165Hz. The OnePlus 13 has the higher stated resolution at 2K. In practical terms, the 15’s headline is smoother motion when an app or content can use a high refresh rate; the 13’s is more pixels. The maximum refresh rate is not a fixed rate for every app or situation: actual refresh depends on content, apps and settings.

Performance: a newer chip, without a verified speed comparison
OnePlus’s US specifications list the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the 15, while OnePlus India lists the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the 13. This confirms a chipset-generation change, but the available sources do not provide a comparable benchmark or task-specific test establishing how much faster the 15 is in gaming, camera processing or everyday use. Treat the newer platform as a potential reason to choose the 15, not a quantified performance guarantee.

OnePlus advertises triple 50MP rear cameras for the 15, but matching headline megapixel counts are not a measure of overall image quality. In Android Central’s hands-on comparison, the reviewer preferred the OnePlus 13 in challenging conditions and noted that the 15 does not have Hasselblad tuning. That is an attributed assessment, not a verdict for every scene, camera mode or photographer. If camera results matter most, compare sample photos in the kinds of lighting and situations you actually use.
Durability: ratings and water-resistance limits
OnePlus’s January 7, 2025 global launch announcement says the OnePlus 13 has IP68 and IP69 ratings (OnePlus India). For the OnePlus 15, OnePlus’s product page says water resistance applies under normal use, is limited to fresh water, can diminish over time, and does not make the phone suitable for professional diving (OnePlus). Those qualifications matter: neither phone should be described as waterproof, and certification or warranty details should be checked for the buyer’s regional model.

Should you upgrade from the OnePlus 13?

- You want the newer Snapdragon generation and accept that the available sources do not quantify a workload-specific speed gain.
- You value the option of a higher maximum refresh rate more than the 13’s higher stated screen resolution.
Keep or consider the OnePlus 13 if
- You prefer its 2K panel over the 15’s 1.5K resolution.
- The camera characteristics suit you; Android Central’s reviewer favored the 13 in challenging scenes, though that finding is not universal.
