For a US buyer who can still find a North American OnePlus 15 from a reputable seller near its launch price, it looks like the better value for battery endurance, fast charging, a large high-refresh display and gaming. The iPhone 18 Pro is the safer pick if you want iOS, Apple’s camera controls and ecosystem, more storage choices, or a straightforward current purchase route. The OnePlus recommendation depends on stock, seller, model compatibility and warranty: check those before comparing prices.
OnePlus 15 or iPhone 18 Pro: the short answer
There is no universal winner. The OnePlus 15’s strongest case is what its specifications and one independent review indicate about endurance, display smoothness and gaming, potentially at a lower price. The iPhone 18 Pro’s case is a more established buying route, iOS and Apple integration, and a camera system with variable aperture and Pro controls.

The evidence available does not include an independent, like-for-like test of the two phones. In particular, the OnePlus battery-test result below is not a comparison with the iPhone 18 Pro, and Apple’s camera announcement is not an independent camera verdict. Treat the decision as a choice between documented features and priorities, not a measured head-to-head score.
Price and US availability
At US launch, TechRadar reported OnePlus 15 prices of $899 for 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage, or $999 for 16GB and 512GB. Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro at $1,199 with 256GB. On launch pricing, the OnePlus offered a lower starting price and more storage at the $999 configuration; that advantage matters only if you can actually buy the right US-compatible model at a sensible price.

Availability is the key qualification. OnePlus said it would end new product rollouts in North America and Europe, while existing devices would continue to receive software support, according to Ars Technica’s July 16, 2026 report. On August 3, 9to5Google reported that OnePlus 15 variants were sold out on OnePlus.com in the US, with limited Amazon stock at that time. Those are dated reports, not proof of October inventory. Apple announced iPhone 18 Pro availability beginning September 18, 2026, in its initial countries and regions.
| Buying factor | OnePlus 15 | iPhone 18 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| US launch price and base storage | $899 for 12GB/256GB, as reported by TechRadar | $1,199 for 256GB, announced by Apple |
| Higher storage configurations | $999 for 16GB/512GB, as reported by TechRadar; OnePlus lists 256GB and 512GB configurations | 512GB, 1TB and 2TB options, in addition to 256GB, listed by Apple |
| Current US purchase status | Not established by the dated August 3 stock report; check the specific listing and seller | Apple announced initial-region availability beginning September 18, 2026 |
Before ordering a OnePlus 15, confirm the exact North American model, carrier compatibility, warranty coverage and seller reputation. A discounted import or marketplace listing is not equivalent to a US model sold with clear local support, and an inflated scarcity price can erase the launch-price advantage.
Battery life and charging
What the OnePlus evidence supports
OnePlus lists a 7,300mAh battery and advertises up to 31 hours of video playback. The playback claim is based on OnePlus laboratory testing; the company says results vary with use and conditions, so it should not be treated as a real-world guarantee. TechRadar’s reviewer recorded 26 hours and 25 minutes in that publication’s battery test. The reviewer had used the OnePlus as a primary work phone for more than two weeks, including on AT&T 5G around New York and Connecticut. That is useful independent evidence about the OnePlus, but it is not a result directly comparable to the iPhone 18 Pro.

What is not established for the iPhone
Apple describes battery improvements and publishes charge-time testing based on preproduction units and specified chargers, with a warning that actual results vary. The available evidence does not establish an independent iPhone 18 Pro battery result using the same method as TechRadar’s OnePlus test. It therefore cannot settle which phone lasts longer for a particular owner.
Fast charging is one of the OnePlus 15’s value strengths, but no directly comparable charge-time figures are established here. Choose it if rapid top-ups and the OnePlus battery specification are compelling priorities; do not infer a specific charging lead over the iPhone from a number that has not been established on comparable terms.
Display, performance and gaming
OnePlus lists a 6.78-inch LTPO 1.5K display with adaptive refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz and up to 165Hz in gaming, alongside Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The lower adaptive rates can support power efficiency in suitable use, while the higher gaming refresh ceiling is intended for compatible games and conditions; it does not mean every game runs at 165 frames per second. OnePlus also cautions that gaming and laboratory claims can vary.
Apple names the A20 Pro in its iPhone 18 Pro launch material, but the evidence here does not provide a comparable iPhone display specification or independent performance test. If you specifically want the stated 165Hz gaming mode and large panel, the OnePlus is the more clearly documented fit. If you care more about iOS or Apple hardware integration, the listed OnePlus refresh rate alone is not a reason to switch.
Which phone is better for photos?
iPhone 18 Pro: aperture control and Pro features
Apple announced a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture and Pro controls. TechRadar’s specifications list three rear 48MP cameras: main, ultrawide and 4x optical telephoto. These details support a case for flexible framing and creative control, but megapixel counts and a manufacturer announcement do not prove better overall photo quality. Independent iPhone 18 Pro camera testing is not established here.
OnePlus 15: three 50MP rear cameras
TechRadar lists the OnePlus 15’s rear cameras as 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide and 50MP 3.5x telephoto. Its reviewer said the cameras exceeded expectations, but judged the earlier iPhone 17 Pro better for all-around camera quality. That judgment concerns the iPhone 17 Pro, not the iPhone 18 Pro, so it cannot resolve this comparison.
If aperture control and Apple’s camera features matter most, the iPhone’s announced feature set is the better documented match. If you are choosing on final image quality, wait for independent iPhone 18 Pro testing rather than treating specifications as a verdict.

OnePlus: Android now, with a reported platform change ahead
OnePlus lists OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, with Plus Mind AI availability varying by country or region. OnePlus has said existing devices will continue to receive software support despite the end of new North American product rollouts. Ars Technica also reported that OxygenOS is expected to give way to Oppo’s ColorOS with Android 17. The precise schedule and what the transition means for the OnePlus 15 specifically are not established here; check for a device-specific OnePlus update notice if that affects your purchase.

iPhone: iOS and region-dependent AI availability
Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro runs iOS 27. Apple Intelligence depends on supported devices, languages and regions; Apple’s announcement said Siri AI would begin as a beta in English, with additional languages planned for October 2026. Check Apple’s current regional feature availability if you are buying for a language or location other than the stated initial support.
For an existing Apple household, iOS and the Apple ecosystem may be the more valuable advantage than an individual hardware specification. Android users who prefer OxygenOS may favor OnePlus, but should account for the reported future ColorOS transition rather than assuming the software will remain unchanged.
Storage, water resistance and accessories
The OnePlus 15 is listed in 256GB and 512GB configurations. Apple offers a wider range—256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB—so the iPhone is the more flexible choice if you need very high built-in storage and do not want to rely on cloud storage or external workflows.
Apple specifies IP68 protection for iPhone 18 Pro under IEC 60529, with a maximum depth of six metres for up to 30 minutes. That is a controlled rating, not a promise that every water incident is harmless. OnePlus cautions that the OnePlus 15 is water- and dust-resistant under normal use, is not designed for professional diving, and may lose resistance over time. Its stated support is for fresh water, and some water-ingress damage is not covered by warranty. Do not use either rating as a reason to deliberately expose a phone to water.
Apple announced Clear and Silicone MagSafe cases for $49 and a TechWoven MagSafe case for $59 in the US. OnePlus lists an Aramid Fiber Magnetic Case, but its current price and retailer stock are not established here. Check that a case listing names the exact phone model before buying.
Which one should you buy?
Choose OnePlus 15 if
- You can verify a reputable US seller, the correct North American model, compatible carrier support and warranty.
- You can buy near its reported launch pricing rather than paying a scarcity premium.
- Battery capacity, fast charging, a 6.78-inch high-refresh display and gaming are higher priorities than Apple’s ecosystem.
- You are comfortable with OxygenOS and the reported possibility of a ColorOS transition with Android 17.
Choose iPhone 18 Pro if
- You want iOS, Apple services and device integration, and an official purchase route after its announced September 18, 2026 initial availability.
- You value variable-aperture camera controls and Apple’s Pro camera features, while recognizing that independent 18 Pro camera results are not established here.
- You need storage beyond 512GB, or want the choice of 1TB or 2TB.
- You prefer not to make the purchase depend on locating a OnePlus model through limited or uncertain US stock.
For most buyers, first check whether the OnePlus 15 is genuinely available in the right regional model and at a fair price. If it is, it offers the stronger documented hardware value for endurance, display and gaming priorities. If not—or if iOS, Apple’s camera workflow, broader storage choices or a clearer purchase route matter more—the iPhone 18 Pro is the more straightforward buy.
