The OnePlus 13 and Apple iPhone 17 have nearly identical US starting prices: $899.99 and $899, respectively. That $0.99 gap is not a matched-storage or street-price comparison. On paper, OnePlus offers a larger, higher-resolution display, a dedicated 3× optical telephoto camera, a 6,000mAh battery and faster listed wired charging. The iPhone 17 is smaller and lighter, and runs iOS. Neither phone is a universal winner; the better fit depends on your preferred size, platform, camera reach and charging priorities.

The listed US starting prices differ by $0.99: OnePlus 13 starts at $899.99, while iPhone 17 starts at $899. That is a nominal difference at the entry price, not proof that the phones cost the same for equivalent configurations. Compare the same storage capacity and purchase channel, then account for current offers, taxes, seller and carrier terms. Prices and availability can change.

How do their displays and sizes compare?
OnePlus 13 has the larger display: 6.82 inches, versus 6.3 inches on iPhone 17. Its listed resolution is also higher at 3168 × 1440, compared with 2622 × 1206. Both manufacturers specify adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, so the headline refresh-rate ceiling is shared.
The iPhone is smaller and lighter on published dimensions: 177g versus 210g or 213g for OnePlus, depending on finish. Choose the OnePlus if you want more screen area; the iPhone is the more compact option. Manufacturer brightness figures use differing descriptions, so they should not be treated as a controlled brightness comparison.
Which phone has the better camera setup?
The clearest hardware distinction is the telephoto camera. OnePlus lists a separate 50MP camera with 3× optical zoom. Apple describes 2× optical-quality telephoto from the iPhone 17’s main camera system, alongside a 48MP main and 48MP ultrawide. OnePlus lists up to 120× digital zoom and Apple up to 10×; those maximum digital-zoom figures do not establish usable image quality at those magnifications.

OnePlus specifies rear video up to 8K at 30fps and says its cameras support 4K Dolby Vision. Apple’s product material specifies Dolby Vision up to 4K at 60fps. These are different maximum modes and manufacturer descriptions, not comparable footage tests. Megapixel counts, zoom specifications and video modes alone cannot establish which phone takes better photos or video.

What do the battery and charging figures tell you?
OnePlus publishes a 6,000mAh typical-equivalent dual-cell capacity; its specifications separately list a rated 5,840mAh equivalent. It lists 80W wired SUPERVOOC charging for the North American version and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging. Apple instead publishes playback estimates: up to 30 hours of video playback and up to 27 hours of streamed video playback.
Apple says iPhone 17 can charge up to 50% in 20 minutes with a 40W-or-higher adapter and cable, or in 30 minutes with a 30W-or-higher adapter and MagSafe Charger; accessories are sold separately. Capacity, playback estimates and charging rates are different measures, so these specifications do not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use. The OnePlus charging rates likewise do not predict a specific user’s charging time under all conditions.
Which is better, OnePlus 13 or iPhone 17?
Choose based on the features that matter most to you, rather than treating a specification sheet as a universal verdict.
Quick Recap
- Consider OnePlus 13 if you want a larger, higher-resolution screen, a dedicated 3× optical telephoto camera, or the listed fast-charging options and prefer Android with OxygenOS.
- Consider iPhone 17 if you want a smaller, lighter phone or prefer iOS and Apple’s ecosystem.
- Compare carefully before buying if camera quality, battery life or speed is your deciding factor: the manufacturer specifications here do not provide independent, directly comparable tests for those qualities.
What should you check before buying?
- Match storage capacity and, for OnePlus, RAM configuration when comparing prices.
- Confirm the regional model’s cellular bands and SIM setup. The OnePlus figures cited here are for North America; Apple’s detailed specifications are for Canada, including its eSIM-only wording. Do not assume those details apply to every country or SKU.
- Verify current stock, seller, carrier conditions, warranty and return terms in your region.
- If fast charging matters, check which compatible accessories are included or sold separately. Apple’s stated fast-charge options specify particular adapter and cable or MagSafe Charger requirements.
- Treat water-resistance ratings as test classifications, not a promise that liquid damage is covered by warranty. Apple’s cited rating is tied to a stated depth, duration and IEC test standard; OnePlus notes laboratory-condition limits.
