Yes, the OnePlus 13 has unusually strong documented water and dust resistance: OnePlus says it passed both IP69 and IP68 tests under controlled IEC 60529 laboratory conditions. That means protection against high-temperature, high-pressure water jets as well as continuous immersion under specified conditions. It is not a guarantee against every liquid, accident or aging seal, and OnePlus excludes liquid-immersion damage from its warranty.
What the OnePlus 13’s IP69 and IP68 ratings mean
IEC 60529 defines the enclosure ingress-protection (IP) code. The first digit describes solids and dust; the second describes water. The OnePlus 13 carries both IP69 and IP68 because these are separate tests: passing one does not automatically establish the other.
| Rating | What it tests | OnePlus-published conditions | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|---|
| IP6x | Dust protection | The highest dust-protection level in the IP code. | Protection from impact, drops or wear-related seal damage. |
| IP68 | Continuous immersion | Still fresh water at 1.5 metres for 30 minutes, with water temperature controlled relative to the product. | Safety in seawater, drinks, chemicals, moving water or every depth and duration. |
| IP69 | High-pressure, high-temperature water jets | Water at 80±5°C, flow of 15±1 litres per minute, sprayed at 0°, 30°, 60° and 90° for 30 seconds per angle. | Unlimited showering, pressure-washing, boiling water or guaranteed immersion protection. |
OnePlus describes the phone as water- and dust-resistant under normal usage conditions. The laboratory results are controlled measurements, not permission to recreate the test at home.
Can you use the OnePlus 13 in common wet situations?
Rain and splashes
Rain, accidental splashes and ordinary wet-weather use are the situations most consistent with the phone’s documented protection. Dry the exterior and ports before connecting a cable.

- Anti-skid texture enhances the grip and makes it easy to hold
- Supports wireless charging
- Prevent accidental drops by using built-in lanyard holes
Showers
Do not treat IP69 as a shower recommendation. A shower combines hot water, continuous spray, soap and changing pressure; those conditions are not the same as OnePlus’ defined test. Keep the phone outside the shower.
Pools and baths
The IP68 result was specified for still fresh water under particular laboratory conditions. A pool contains treated water, and a bath can contain soaps or other substances. OnePlus does not promise protection from those liquids, so deliberate submersion is a poor risk to take.

Seawater and beverages
OnePlus specifically advises against immersing the phone in seawater or beverages. Salt, sugar and other residues can corrode or foul seals and ports even when a device has an IP rating.
Wet charging
Never charge the OnePlus 13 while it is wet. Allow the phone and its connector to dry completely first; an IP rating does not make electrical charging in the presence of liquid safe.

How durable is the OnePlus 13 against drops?
OnePlus says its latest Ceramic Guard is “rated 2 times tougher than standard smartphone glass.” That is a manufacturer comparison attributed to the OnePlus Test Laboratory. The product information does not publish the drop height, test surface, sample size or independent-laboratory method, so the figure cannot be converted into a guaranteed survival height.
Glass toughness is only one part of durability. A cracked display, bent frame, damaged back, opened repair seam or worn gasket can reduce water resistance. OnePlus warns that resistance may decline through daily wear. A phone that survives an earlier splash is not necessarily protected after physical damage or years of use.

What the ratings mean for ownership and warranty
- They are not permanent: seals and adhesives can deteriorate with use, heat and impact.
- Repairs matter: opening the phone can affect the original sealing unless it is restored correctly.
- Damage changes the risk: do not rely on the rating after a crack, bend or significant fall.
- Warranty is limited: OnePlus states that liquid-immersion damage is not covered by its warranty.
These limits make the rating most valuable as protection against accidental exposure, not as an invitation to test the phone deliberately.
How to protect a wet OnePlus 13
- Move it away from the liquid and remove any case that is holding moisture against the phone.
- Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
- Hold the charging port downward and let residual water drain naturally; do not insert objects into the port.
- Wait until the phone and port are fully dry before wired charging or attaching accessories.
- If the phone has been dropped, cracked, opened for repair or exposed to seawater, drinks or another contaminating liquid, arrange professional inspection rather than assuming the IP rating still applies.
How to compare the OnePlus 13 with another phone
Do not compare an IP69 label with another phone’s IP68 label as if one were simply “more waterproof.” Check which exposure matters to you and read the stated conditions.
- Water type: IPX8 addresses immersion under agreed conditions; IPX9 addresses high-pressure, high-temperature jets.
- Dust: confirm the first digit rather than looking only at the water digit.
- Test detail: compare depth, duration, temperature, flow, spray angles and whether conditions are manufacturer-specific.
- Physical evidence: look for disclosed glass or frame testing and independent drop-test methodology.
- After-sale limits: read warranty exclusions and account for repair history and wear.
Bottom-line buying advice
The OnePlus 13 is a strong choice if you want certified resistance to dust, rain, splashes and specified water exposure. Its dual IP69/IP68 rating is more informative than an IP69-only claim because it documents both jet and immersion tests. Still, the rating cannot promise survival in seawater, drinks, hot showers, pressure washers, repeated deliberate dunking or a damaged handset. Treat Ceramic Guard’s “2 times tougher” statement as a manufacturer comparison—not a drop guarantee—and use a case and screen protector to reduce the consequences of everyday impacts.
