Which phone has the better display?
The OnePlus 12R gives you the larger panel at 6.78 inches, compared with the REDMI Turbo 5’s 6.59 inches. Both are AMOLED screens and list a 120 Hz maximum refresh rate; OnePlus specifies an LTPO range of 1–120 Hz. Their listed resolutions are close but not identical, and the published numbers alone cannot establish which screen looks better. OnePlus lists Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while Xiaomi India lists Gorilla Glass 7i.

How do the chipsets, memory and storage compare?

The listed configurations differ: the OnePlus US page shows 8GB/128GB and 16GB/256GB, while Xiaomi India lists 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB for the Turbo 5.

These platform and storage specifications are not a substitute for comparable independent benchmarks or sustained-use testing. They do not, by themselves, show which phone will be faster for a particular game, app, or workload.
Battery capacity and charging: what the figures tell you
The listed capacity is 7,540 mAh for the REDMI Turbo 5 and 5,500 mAh typical for the OnePlus 12R. That makes the Turbo 5 larger on nominal battery capacity, but capacity figures do not prove how long either phone lasts between charges; real endurance depends on the device and how it is used.
Charging specifications depend on the OnePlus market page: OnePlus lists 80W for the US model and 100W for the India model. Xiaomi India lists 100W HyperCharge for the Turbo 5. Wattage alone does not specify charging duration. The cited OnePlus US specifications list an 80W adapter in the box; Xiaomi India lists a 100W adapter.

The OnePlus 12R lists a 50 MP Sony IMX890 main camera with optical and electronic image stabilization, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. Xiaomi India lists a 50 MP Sony IMX882 main camera with OIS/EIS and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. These are hardware descriptions, not evidence that one phone takes better photos or video. A meaningful image-quality comparison would require matched independent testing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Software support and included accessories
Xiaomi India’s FAQ states four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the Turbo 5. OnePlus’ US specification page states at least three Android OS generations and four years of security updates from launch for the 12R. These are manufacturer support commitments; the cited wording does not establish a guaranteed rollout schedule for every region.
Box contents also vary by market. The OnePlus US page lists an 80W adapter, Type-A to Type-C cable, and pre-applied screen protector. Xiaomi India lists a 100W adapter, USB Type-C cable, protective case, and pre-applied screen protector. Check the local retail package rather than assuming another country’s box contents apply.
India price difference: why the listed figures are not like-for-like
Xiaomi India’s store listing displayed the REDMI Turbo 5 at ₹41,999 for both 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB variants when accessed on October 7, 2026. The listing price can change and is not a universal or guaranteed future price. OnePlus India’s specifications page lists MRP of ₹39,999 for the 8GB/128GB 12R and ₹45,999 for the 16GB/256GB model. MRP is not the same as a verified current checkout price, and the listed storage tiers do not match Xiaomi’s.
For a useful current comparison, check both phones in the same Indian market and at the same retailer, compare the closest available storage tiers, and distinguish checkout price from MRP. Record the date and treat any bank discount separately. Xiaomi India also published dated July and August 2026 bank-offer pages; those offer periods are historical, not current pricing evidence.
Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Consider the OnePlus 12R if a larger display is your priority, or if its India configuration and current local price suit you. Verify the regional version: the official US and India pages specify different charging rates.
- Consider the REDMI Turbo 5 if its listed larger battery capacity, 256GB storage options, or longer stated support window fit your priorities. The cited product and store evidence is from Xiaomi India, so first confirm availability and specifications in your country.
- Do not choose on chipset names or camera megapixels alone. The specifications establish different hardware, but not the relative performance, endurance, or image quality you will experience.
