What the OADE20’s 20 L/day rating means
Omega Altise’s OADE16/OADE20 manual specifies a claimed extraction rate of 20 litres per day at 30°C and 80% relative humidity. That is a stated rating at a particular temperature and humidity, not a promise that the unit will collect 20 litres in a day under cooler, drier or otherwise different conditions. The manual’s figures are manufacturer specifications; they do not establish independently measured performance in a home.

CHOICE also identifies the OADE-20 as a refrigeration dehumidifier and lists its claimed removal rate as 20 litres per day, operating range as 5–32°C, two fan speeds and weight as 11 kg. Its public model page marks the machine discontinued. The following figures come from the Omega Altise OADE16/OADE20 manual, reference OADE1620 05/2014/06. They describe the older OADE20; they are not independent test measurements.

The manual’s power figures are specified at two warm, humid conditions, not as a universal running-power figure. They are insufficient on their own to establish household running cost: actual use depends on operating conditions and time in operation, and the public CHOICE page does not expose its measured energy or running-cost results.
What independent testing is publicly available?
CHOICE’s public page identifies the model and shows basic listed specifications, but its CHOICE Expert Rating and core test measures—including water-removal, energy, claimed-water-removal and ease-of-use scores, as well as measured power, noise, tank capacity and running-cost measures—are restricted to members. Those values cannot be inferred from the visible specifications. The public evidence therefore supports identifying the OADE20 and its published claims, but not a test-based verdict on how it performs against other dehumidifiers.

Tank emptying and continuous drainage
The OADE20 has a stated 5-litre tank. When the tank is full or not positioned correctly, the manual says the compressor stops and the full-water indicator turns red. The machine also supports continuous drainage, which can avoid routine tank emptying when a suitable outlet is available.

Connecting a drain tube
- Use tubing with an 11 mm inner diameter, as specified in the manual, and confirm that it fits the actual unit securely.
- Make sure the tube has a free-flowing route to the drain and is secured so it cannot come loose or kink.
- Protect the tube from freezing and check periodically that water continues to drain rather than backing up.
The 11 mm measurement is the tube’s inner diameter, not its outer diameter. Because this is an older model, verify connection fit against the appliance and its manual before purchasing a replacement tube.

Controls, placement and routine care
The manual documents continuous operation and percentage humidity targets, high and low fan speeds, a timer, a display, castors and a dryer function intended for rapid moisture removal, such as in a room where clothes are drying. It also lists ioniser and TiO2 controls; their presence is a feature description, not independent evidence of health, sterilisation or deodorising benefits.
- Place the unit on a level surface and leave at least 10 cm of space on either side for airflow.
- For efficient operation, close outside doors and windows where appropriate.
- Before moving it, switch it off and empty the tank.
- Remove and wash the plastic filter, then let it dry completely before putting it back.
- The manual says the active carbon filter cannot be cleaned. Check it periodically and replace it if necessary; the manual does not identify a replacement SKU or seller.
If the unit appears not to dehumidify or stops, the manual’s troubleshooting guidance is to check that room temperature is within the 5–32°C range, the tank is empty and correctly positioned, airflow and the filter are not blocked, room humidity is not already low, doors and windows are closed as appropriate, and the appliance is level.

Is the Omega Altise OADE20 still available?
CHOICE labels the OADE-20 discontinued, and Andoo’s product listing says the OADE20 is no longer available. That indicates the exact model is not normally listed as a current product; it does not prove that no remaining retail stock or second-hand units exist. Andoo lists a two-year manufacturer warranty, but a warranty shown on an old listing does not establish coverage for a particular used or remaining-stock unit. Don’t confuse the OADE20 with the current Omega Altise range
Omega Altise’s current product page shows a newer 16L/20L range, but the visible specifications are for its 16L variant: a 3.7-litre tank, 12.5 kg net weight, dimensions of 344 × 250 × 563 mm excluding castors and a two-year warranty. It also lists two fan speeds, auto defrost, castors, a 24-hour timer and a humidity sensor. The page offers a manual labelled 2022.08.15. These newer 16L details are not specifications for the older OADE20, whose June 2014 manual gives different figures. Omega Altise’s current dehumidifier range

What to check if you’re considering one
Because the OADE20 is discontinued and the accessible independent test evidence is limited, assess a particular unit rather than relying on its headline capacity alone. Useful checks include:
- Whether the unit starts, runs and collects water, and whether the tank-full indicator and automatic stop operate.
- Whether the tank, drain connection, filters, controls and castors are intact.
- Whether the seller can confirm condition, warranty coverage and a return option.
- For comparisons with newer models, stated extraction rate under a specified condition, measured energy use and noise, tank capacity or continuous-drain support, operating temperature range, ease of emptying and moving, and current price and availability.
For this model, CHOICE’s public page does not provide the measured noise, energy, water-removal or ease-of-use scores needed to compare those test outcomes. Do not treat the 20 L/day manufacturer rating as a substitute for them.
