It combines 3.45 µm backside-illuminated pixels with a global shutter, and the manufacturer lists a minimum exposure of 1 µs and a maximum full-resolution rate of 75 frames per second in 10-bit mode. Those are sensor specifications, not proof that a complete camera will deliver blur-free images in every application.
What the OG12S10 is—and what it is not
OMNIVISION announced the OG12S10 on October 5, 2026, describing it as a backside-illuminated (BSI), global-shutter CMOS sensor for factory automation and intelligent transportation systems. The product page also identifies 3D machine vision and industrial barcode scanning as intended applications. These are target uses, not evidence of deployment in a named customer system.

The OG12S10 is a sensor component, not a finished camera. A usable vision system still needs compatible sensor electronics, optics, illumination, processing, and mechanical integration. OMNIVISION’s announcement and product page establish the listed specifications; they do not establish the performance of a particular camera built around the sensor.
How global shutter helps capture motion
A global shutter exposes the image’s pixels together, rather than recording different rows at different times. That synchronized exposure can reduce the skew or shape distortion that a moving object may show with a rolling shutter. OMNIVISION staff marketing manager Kelly Yan described the OG12S10’s global shutter as addressing motion-related distortion in scenes with speed and vibration in the company’s announcement.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Global shutter does not eliminate every kind of blur. Exposure duration, object speed, available light, lens performance, readout mode, and system integration still affect the image. The manufacturer’s statement explains the shutter’s intended benefit; it is not an independent test or a universal guarantee of image clarity.

Why 75 fps and 1 µs describe different things
Frame rate is how often the sensor can produce frames; exposure duration is how long it collects light for an individual exposure. A short exposure can help limit motion blur, while a high frame rate can provide more frequent samples of a moving scene. Neither number alone predicts image quality or guarantees that the system will capture a particular event.

The 75 fps maximum is mode-dependent: OMNIVISION lists it at 10-bit, 50 fps at 12-bit, and 37.5 fps in 12/14-bit DCG HDR mode. The 1 µs figure is the listed minimum exposure, not the frame interval. A system designer should check the required bit depth, HDR mode, lighting, data handling, and timing together rather than treating the maximum rate and shortest exposure as simultaneous guarantees for every configuration.

What to verify before designing around it
The intended application alone is not enough to establish fit. Before selecting the OG12S10, confirm the current product guide and system requirements for:
- Output mode, bit depth, HDR operation, and achievable frame rate at the required resolution.
- Whether the 1 µs minimum exposure and the system’s illumination level suit the target motion and scene.
- Optical format and lens coverage; the announcement and product page use different format descriptions.
- Interface lane count, bandwidth, receiver compatibility, and processing capacity.
- CLGA package and the board-level integration requirements.
- Required visible or near-infrared response, using the actual illumination wavelength and the manufacturer’s stated QE figures as specifications to validate for the application.
Availability and evidence
In its October 5, 2026 announcement, OMNIVISION said sampling was expected in November 2026 and mass production in Q4 2026. Those are forward-looking schedule statements in the announcement, not confirmation that either milestone has occurred. Check the product page or manufacturer for current status.
