Choose Wix if your priority is a managed website with built-in tools for selling, scheduling, and marketing. Odoo is a broader business-app suite; Wix centers on website creation and hosting. Neither is automatically better for every business, and the right choice depends on the workflows, country, and costs you need to cover.
Odoo vs Wix: What is the core difference?
Odoo treats a website or online store as part of a wider collection of business applications. Its official suite includes website and eCommerce alongside CRM, accounting, inventory, point of sale, projects, and sales. That breadth makes Odoo worth considering when several functions need to work in one system, but it does not mean every workflow will work out of the box.

Wix starts with a managed website platform. Its plans combine site creation and hosting, while eligible business plans add features such as accepting payments, ecommerce, scheduling, and marketing. It is a better fit to investigate when the website is the center of the project and its built-in business features cover what you need.

Is Odoo better than Wix for ecommerce?
Odoo may be the stronger candidate if ecommerce needs to connect with inventory, sales, accounting, CRM, or point of sale. Its eCommerce app sits within a broader suite, so it is worth evaluating when online orders are part of a larger operational workflow. Confirm that the specific processes you need—including regional requirements and integrations—are supported and determine what setup they require.
#1 Best Overall
Wix may suit a store that primarily needs a managed website and hosted ecommerce tools. Wix directs sellers to its business plans to accept payments. Check the current plan details and the payment methods available in your country before choosing; availability and price can vary by market.
So the useful question is not simply which platform has ecommerce. It is whether you need a store connected to several operational functions, or a website-led store whose included tools are sufficient.

Does Odoo include a website builder?
Yes. Odoo lists Website and eCommerce among its applications. Its website capabilities are part of the larger business-app suite, rather than the whole product’s center of gravity. If your primary need is building and managing a site, compare the editing workflow and design requirements directly; the app list alone does not establish which editor will feel easier for your team.
Which is easier to use, Odoo or Wix?
There is no established independent usability test here that supports a categorical answer. Wix’s website-led focus may align more closely with a project centered on creating and managing a site. Odoo’s wider scope may be valuable when business teams need connected applications, but the configuration and implementation needed for a particular workflow must be assessed rather than assumed.

Compare both using the tasks your staff actually perform: creating pages, updating products, processing an order, reconciling a sale, or checking inventory. A short workflow-based evaluation is more useful than a general ease-of-use label.
How to choose based on your business
Lean toward Odoo when operations drive the decision
- You want to evaluate a shared suite for a website or store plus functions such as CRM, inventory, sales, accounting, or point of sale.
- Connecting online activity with other business processes matters more than choosing a website platform alone.
- You can scope the required configuration, integrations, regional localization, migration, and support before estimating implementation effort.
Lean toward Wix when the website drives the decision
- Your immediate need is a managed website and hosting, with site editing at the center of the work.
- The ecommerce, payment, scheduling, or marketing functions in an available business plan cover your requirements.
- You have checked local plan availability, price, and payment methods before committing.
Run a direct comparison when both seem plausible
Write down the business jobs the platform must support, then test them in each product rather than comparing feature names in isolation. Odoo’s vendor-authored 2023 ecommerce comparison frames platform choice around scale, customization, ease of use, and setup; it is vendor positioning, not an independent head-to-head usability test. How to compare the full cost
Do not treat a subscription price as the complete cost of adopting either platform. Estimate the costs for the first year and ongoing use, based on your team and requirements.
- Odoo: Check the current local price, plan tier, number of users, billing term, and hosting choice. Include implementation, configuration, migration, integrations, and any custom work that your workflows require. Odoo’s pricing page notes that Odoo.sh hosting is not included.
- Wix: Check the current local plan price, billing selection, and the features included in the plan you need. Wix says the final price is shown on the purchase page before payment; do not assume a price shown for another market or purchase context applies to you.
- Both: Account for staff time, support needs, payment requirements, and any additional apps or services you expect to use.
For context, Odoo’s pricing page currently displays a One App Free tier at $0, Standard at $24.90 per user per month on annual billing, and Custom at $49.00 per user per month on annual billing, with higher monthly-billing figures also shown. The page says its displayed discount is valid for 12 months for initial users ordered. These are US-dollar figures displayed on the linked page, not a globally applicable quote; verify the current local page and billing terms before budgeting.

A practical decision checklist
- List the required workflows. Include website editing, selling, payments, inventory, customer management, accounting, and any other essential operation.
- Separate must-haves from nice-to-haves. Identify which capabilities must be in the same system and which can be handled through another service.
- Check regional fit. Verify local pricing, plan availability, payment methods, and any localization or compliance requirements relevant to your business.
- Test representative tasks. Have the people who will use the platform try the actual work, including the handoffs between website, store, and operations.
- Estimate total cost and setup. Include users, billing, hosting, configuration, migration, integrations, support, and ongoing maintenance.
- Choose the platform that fits the work. Favor Odoo when connected business operations are central; favor Wix when a managed website and its available business features are enough.
