Google began rolling out its October 2026 Pixel update on October 6 to supported Pixel devices running Android 17. The rollout is phased and depends on the phone model and carrier, so the update may not appear on every eligible phone at once. Check Settings > System > Software update to see whether it is ready for your device.
When will your Pixel receive the October update?
Google says the October release will roll out in phases over about a week, with timing depending on the carrier and device. That is an estimate for the rollout, not a guaranteed arrival date for an individual phone. Google’s general guidance also says software updates can take a few weeks to reach a device. If the update is not available yet, that alone does not mean your phone is ineligible.

The October announcement applies to supported Pixel devices running Android 17. Google’s support inventory lists Pixel 6 and later supported models, including Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet, but that broad list is not a build-by-build confirmation that every model will receive this particular release. Check your phone’s update screen rather than assuming eligibility from the general support list.

How to check for the update
- Open Settings.
- Tap System, then Software update.
- Review the update status and follow any on-screen instructions if an update is available.
Google says a notification appears when an update is ready to install. You can also use the Software update screen to check manually. If it says your phone is up to date, check again later while the rollout is underway.

What the October 2026 update includes
Google’s Pixel Update Bulletin, published October 6, says supported Google devices will receive the 2026-10-05 security patch level. A patch level of 2026-10-05 or later addresses the issues associated with that level and earlier patch levels, as well as issues covered by the October Android Security Bulletin. Google encourages customers to accept the updates.
The Pixel bulletin lists four Pixel-specific vulnerabilities and two kernel vulnerabilities:

- Pixel entries: CVE-2026-55330 (Critical, Bluetooth, elevation of privilege); CVE-2026-56952 (Critical, GDMC, elevation of privilege); CVE-2026-55307 (Critical, GSA, information disclosure); and CVE-2026-0198 (High, GDMC, information disclosure).
- Kernel entries: CVE-2026-56906 and CVE-2026-56936, both High-severity elevation-of-privilege issues.
These are the six entries listed in the Pixel bulletin’s Pixel and kernel sections; they are not the total number of fixes in the separate Android Security Bulletin.
Which Pixel phones still receive updates?
Google’s support documentation describes these software-support periods, counted from when each model first became available on the Google Store in the US:

A support period does not mean every supported phone receives each update at the same time. The October release’s specific availability depends on its supported-device rollout as well as the general support window.
