What the OBSBOT Meet Flip is—and who it suits
OBSBOT describes the Meet Flip as an AI-powered foldable 4K USB webcam. Its strongest use case is filling a gap: a desktop monitor with no built-in camera, a closed-lid laptop connected to an external display, or a portable setup where carrying a larger webcam would be inconvenient. The Gadgeteer review makes the same distinction: if the webcam built into your laptop already works for your calls, the Meet Flip may add little.

At 37.7 g according to OBSBOT’s product listing, it is designed to be easy to carry. The Gadgeteer’s editor and co-owner Vincent Nguyen summed up its appeal for camera-less displays: “For displays without a camera, Meet Flip is the webcam I’d actually pack.” That is a reviewer’s judgment, not a general guarantee that it is the best fit for every travel or desk setup.
Video modes and image quality
OBSBOT lists a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and video output up to 4K at 30 fps, with 1080p available at up to 60 fps. These are the device’s stated modes, not a promise that every calling app, operating system, USB setup, or internet connection will deliver them. Check your intended app’s camera-resolution options and consider bandwidth before choosing 4K for calls.

Tom’s Guide reviewer found the 4K image clear and smooth, while describing its color rendering as warm. Digital Production’s review table gives further specifications—including a 48 MP stacked sensor, f/1.8 lens, HDR, 4x digital zoom, and a 72-degree diagonal field of view at 16:9—but those details are reported by that publication rather than independently verified here.

Setup, mounting, and fold-to-close privacy
Tom’s Guide found setup simple: connect the USB-C cable, then choose the Meet Flip as the camera in the calling app. OBSBOT says its unibody fold covers the lens for physical privacy and changes the camera to standby; Tom’s Guide reviewer likewise found that folding it covers the lens and puts it to sleep. Unlike a software mute or privacy indicator alone, the folded position makes the lens-covering action visible.

The official store also lists a remote control and a UVC-to-HDMI adapter; these are accessories, not requirements established by the reviews.

Auto framing is a crop, not room-following movement
OBSBOT lists AI auto framing and control through its OBSBOT Center companion software. In Tom’s Guide’s experience, framing works through zoom and still requires the person to remain within the camera’s field of view. That makes it useful for adjusting the composition without manually repositioning the webcam, but it is not the same as a camera that physically pans or tilts to follow someone walking around a room. The reviewer found it less smooth than physical tracking on a more expensive camera.

If you regularly move around while presenting, the distinction matters more than the “AI” label. A software crop can reframe only what the lens already sees; it cannot turn the camera toward a subject who has left that view.
Microphone: reviewer impressions differ
The Meet Flip has dual microphones and OBSBOT lists AI noise reduction. That does not settle whether its built-in audio is right for your room, distance, or voice. Tom’s Guide reviewer found the mic adequate for audible work calls but preferred a MacBook Pro’s built-in microphone, and did not hear much difference among the software microphone modes. The Gadgeteer, by contrast, reports good call audio and video in its own use.

These are differing reviewer experiences, not a controlled head-to-head microphone test. If clean, consistent voice pickup is important, plan to use a headset or separate microphone if the built-in audio does not suit your setup.

OBSBOT Center and AI meeting notes
OBSBOT lists OBSBOT Center as companion control software for camera features. Its AI Magic Notes feature is described as providing transcription, highlights, and meeting summaries. OBSBOT’s product listing states that 120 minutes are complimentary before a subscription is required; treat that as the stated allowance, not unlimited free use. Check the current terms and availability for your region before relying on the feature for regular meetings.

Is the Meet Flip worth it?
It is easiest to justify if your monitor lacks a camera, you use a closed laptop with an external display, or portability and visible physical lens coverage are priorities. Its listed 4K/30 and 1080p/60 modes offer flexibility, and the hinge serves both angle adjustment and the physical privacy action. The trade-offs are software-based framing with limited movement, uncertain fit of the built-in microphones for your call environment, and a notes feature that exceeds its complimentary allowance only with a subscription.
The Gadgeteer listed the webcam at $119 when its review was published on August 7, 2026. That is a dated publication price, not a current or region-independent quote; check the seller for today’s price and stock. For comparison shopping, assess the camera you already have, the monitor or laptop arrangement you actually use, whether digital cropping is enough, and whether you will use the built-in mic or an external one.
