For a stereo bhajan stream, start with H.264 video, CBR rate control, a 2-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo audio at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. Choose a video mode your upload connection can sustain: YouTube recommends 4 Mbps for 720p30 or 5 Mbps for 1080p30, and advises keeping about 20% upload bandwidth in reserve beyond your total stream bitrate. These are starting settings, not a guarantee that OBS will run without interruption.
Recommended OBS settings for a bhajan stream
For a simple visual with stereo music, 720p30 is a reasonable starting choice when upload stability matters more than extra detail. Choose 1080p30 if the visual benefits from it and your connection can sustain the higher bitrate with headroom. Check that the channel can go live
YouTube says a verified channel must have no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. First-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become available, so enable access before the day you plan to broadcast. See YouTube’s computer live-streaming tips.

Create an encoder stream and protect its key
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream using an encoder workflow.
- Set the title and privacy (public, private, or unlisted) and review available DVR and latency options.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming configuration. YouTube describes the key as the value that tells the encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it. Treat it like a password; reset it in Studio if it is exposed.
YouTube’s live stream settings guide covers keys, URLs, privacy, DVR, and latency. For a prerecorded bhajan playlist, low latency is usually less important than steady playback; avoid choosing a latency mode without a reason to prioritize faster viewer interaction.
Confirm rights to every track
Having an audio file does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it. Confirm that your rights cover both the sound recording and the underlying composition, for the relevant territories and use. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; detection may replace the stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it, or terminate it. If you have licensed third-party content, YouTube says to ask the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Set up OBS and verify the actual playlist path
OBS labels and available encoder options can vary by version, operating system, and hardware. The values below are the targets to match in the streaming and output settings; confirm the labels in your installed OBS version rather than assuming every interface is identical. The OBS Knowledge Base is the official reference for its streaming and audio topics.

- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings and then Stream. Choose the YouTube service if it is available, select RTMPS where the interface offers a server choice, and enter the stream key from YouTube Studio. Keep the key private.
- Set the video output. In Settings > Output, use H.264 with CBR and set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. Choose 720p30 or 1080p30 and use the corresponding YouTube-recommended H.264 video bitrate: 4 Mbps or 5 Mbps.
- Set the audio output. Configure AAC stereo at 128 kbps and a 44.1 kHz sample rate. Check that the intended playlist audio reaches the stream mix and is not muted or doubled by an additional source.
- Check upload headroom. Add video, audio, and any other outgoing stream bitrate, then allow roughly 20% more upload capacity than that total. A speed-test headline is not a guarantee of sustained capacity if the connection is shared or fluctuating.
- Test the complete playback path. Start a test or scheduled stream, check YouTube’s preview, and listen for clean, consistent sound. Use the same playlist behavior and visual sources planned for the broadcast. YouTube explicitly advises testing before going live.
- Monitor the live stream. Watch OBS and YouTube Studio’s live control room for dropped frames, audio problems, or stream-health warnings. YouTube advises monitoring quality; these encoder values do not guarantee zero downtime.
YouTube automatically transcodes an incoming stream into multiple playback formats for viewers. You choose the ingestion resolution and bitrate; you do not need to create every viewer rendition yourself. OBS is also listed among encoders supporting HLS, but YouTube says HLS has higher latency than RTMP. HLS is not needed for the ordinary stereo H.264 RTMPS setup described here. What “nonstop” requires beyond encoder settings
A correct bitrate and a working playlist do not establish that a local OBS broadcast will continue unattended. The computer, OBS process, playlist source, power, network connection, and YouTube ingest path all remain part of the operating chain. The official guidance supports testing and monitoring, but it does not establish a specific OBS playlist configuration, automatic-recovery recipe, guaranteed runtime, or maximum stream duration for this scenario.
- Plan how someone will notice and respond if OBS stops, the computer restarts, the network fails, or YouTube interrupts the broadcast.
- Test the playlist for transitions, silence, unexpected source changes, and whether playback behaves as intended after the initial track.
- Keep the computer powered and prevent sleep or shutdown for as long as the local broadcast must run; account for local power and internet outages.
