Find Browser Source in OBS Studio

Open OBS Studio and find the Sources panel.

Click the add-source control, usually shown as a plus sign, and look for Browser or Browser Source. The exact label can vary by version or localization.

Select the source to add it. For this OBS Studio route, you do not need a separate CLR Browser installation.

The OBS Project’s obs-browser project describes Browser Source as a cross-platform OBS Studio feature included by default in official Windows and macOS packages, the Ubuntu PPA, and the official Flatpak. That statement does not establish what every third-party Linux package includes.

Why can’t I add CLR Browser to OBS Studio?
CLR Browser and OBS Studio’s Browser Source are separate plugins or features. CLR Browser was made for OBS Classic. An OBS community administrator wrote in a 2016 forum discussion that “OBS Studio is not compatible with OBS Classic plugins.” That historical guidance explains the compatibility distinction; it is not a current download or installation guide for CLR Browser.
If a guide tells you to install CLR Browser into OBS Studio, it is referring to the wrong OBS version. Do not use an old CLR Browser binary as a fix for a missing Studio source.

What to check if Browser Source is missing

Confirm the application. Check whether you opened OBS Studio or OBS Classic; similar names do not mean their plugins are interchangeable.

Identify how OBS Studio was installed. The official project lists default inclusion for its official Windows and macOS packages, Ubuntu PPA, and official Flatpak. Other Linux distributions or third-party packages may differ.

Check the package documentation. If Browser Source is absent, consult the documentation for your distribution or package to see whether it provides
obs-browser. Do not assume a third-party package includes it simply because an official package does.
Older forum advice about choosing a full installer or reinstalling reflects historical discussion and is not a universal current fix. Verify the application and package first.

Installing CLR Browser in OBS Classic
The available information establishes that CLR Browser was an OBS Classic plugin, but does not establish a currently supported download or a reliable present-day installation procedure. Avoid installing an old binary unless you can independently verify its authenticity and compatibility with your exact OBS Classic build and operating system. These legacy instructions should not be applied to OBS Studio.
