Whether your Airtel Xstream Fiber connection can sustain either rate depends on your plan and actual upload performance, so test the connection and a representative stream before relying on 4K60.
Recommended OBS settings for YouTube 4K60
Use the settings below as a starting point for SDR streaming to YouTube. Choose the bitrate for the video codec OBS is actually using. YouTube’s current encoder guide, verified in 2026, gives different 4K60 recommendations by codec and advises choosing a quality your connection can reliably sustain. YouTube’s encoder settings do not state a publication date.

The bitrate figures are for video, not the entire connection. Leave headroom for audio, other devices using the connection and normal variation in upload performance. For HDR, YouTube’s guidance specifies H.265/HEVC and 10-bit; do not assume the SDR color settings in the table apply to an HDR workflow.

How to enter the settings in OBS
- In OBS, open Settings → Output. If you use Output Mode: Simple, switch to Advanced so you can set the encoder and rate control.
- Under the streaming output, choose the video encoder you intend to use: H.264, H.265/HEVC or AV1 if available. Hardware and encoder availability varies by computer; the bitrate recommendation depends on the codec selected.
- Set Rate Control to CBR, enter the matching video bitrate from the table, and set Keyframe Interval to 2 s.
- Open Settings → Video and set the output resolution to 3840 × 2160 and the frame rate to 60. If your computer cannot encode this reliably, reduce the output resolution or frame rate rather than forcing settings it cannot sustain.
- Set audio to AAC or MP3 and use a stereo bitrate consistent with YouTube’s listed 128 kbps guidance. Include this audio traffic in your upstream allowance.
- In Settings → Stream, connect OBS to your YouTube channel using the account connection or the YouTube stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone.
- Choose YouTube’s RTMPS ingest where available, then test with the same type of motion and audio you expect in the actual broadcast.
OBS labels can vary with its version and the encoder selected. The essential targets are CBR, the codec-matched bitrate, a 2-second keyframe interval, 2160p60 output, and a stable test to YouTube.

Can Airtel Xstream Fiber sustain 4K60?
There is no single Airtel upload figure that applies to every Xstream Fiber customer. Airtel lists multiple broadband speed tiers and notes that availability varies by location. A plan’s advertised headline speed is not proof of sustained upstream capacity at your streaming PC or along the route to YouTube’s ingest servers. Check your exact plan and measure upload performance where OBS will run.
Airtel’s QoS report for the quarter ending December 2025 provides examples for particular tariffs: tariff 398 had a 30 Mbps offered typical upload speed and a 30 Mbps 90th-percentile measured upload speed; tariff 499 had a 40 Mbps offered typical upload speed and a 43 Mbps 90th-percentile measured upload speed. These are tariff-specific report figures, not an individual line guarantee or a prediction of sustained YouTube ingest performance. They illustrate why you should not assume that an Airtel plan can maintain the 35 Mbps or 50 Mbps video bitrate plus audio and other traffic.

Measure the connection you will stream on
- Confirm your plan’s stated upload speed and its availability at your address using Airtel’s broadband plan page.
- Run upload tests on the computer you will use for OBS at different times. YouTube recommends running a speed test to test upload bitrate.
- Where practical, connect the PC to the router by Ethernet for the tests. This helps distinguish Wi-Fi variation from the ISP connection; it cannot add upstream capacity the line does not have.
- Leave margin beyond the video bitrate for audio and household network use. Do not set OBS to match a single peak speed-test result.
- Run a private or unlisted test stream and check YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health as well as OBS’s dropped-frame statistics.
If repeated tests and the live test show that the connection cannot sustain the codec’s recommended bitrate, lower the bitrate and/or step down the resolution or frame rate. A stable lower-quality stream is preferable to unstable 4K60.
Test before an event and troubleshoot instability
YouTube recommends testing before going live with audio and movement similar to the planned stream, then monitoring stream health and messages during the event. For 4K streams, YouTube says low-latency optimization is unavailable and the stream is set to normal latency.

- OBS reports dropped frames or YouTube stream health degrades: The upload path may not be sustaining the selected bitrate. Repeat a test, reduce bitrate, or lower resolution or frame rate. Check whether other household traffic is using the connection.
- Performance varies between tests: Test at several times and, if currently on Wi-Fi, compare with an Ethernet connection. A wired link can isolate local wireless variability but will not fix insufficient ISP upload capacity.
- The intended codec option is missing: OBS can only use encoders available on that system. Select an available codec and use the bitrate recommended for it; do not use the H.264 rate as if it were the AV1 or HEVC recommendation.
- Stream health is poor despite a strong speed test: A speed test is not a guarantee of a stable route to YouTube. Test the actual OBS stream and follow the warnings shown in Live Control Room.
- Audio or picture does not match the intended broadcast: Verify OBS’s selected audio device, output resolution and frame rate, then repeat the representative test before the event.
Copyright and YouTube live-stream rules
Technical settings do not grant rights to the content you broadcast. Before streaming music, video, or other third-party material, make sure you have the necessary rights or permission. YouTube may detect copyrighted content in a live stream; review the platform’s current policies and any notices in Live Control Room before relying on a planned broadcast.
For a recurring channel, also consider whether the stream provides original value rather than simply replaying material. Copyright permission and YouTube’s monetization eligibility are separate issues: having permission does not itself guarantee monetization. Check YouTube’s current channel monetization policies and copyright guidance for the details relevant to your content.
