For a direct image response, add embed=screenshot.url; for an API workflow that needs image metadata and a hosted asset URL, use Microlink’s normal JSON response. Preview the result to check Hindi text and cropping before sharing.
Generate a 1200 × 630 thumbnail with Microlink
Microlink’s screenshot guide says a capture needs the target url and the screenshot parameter. Its Open Graph example uses a 1200 × 630 viewport, a documented common social-card size—not a guarantee that every social platform will display the image identically. Microlink’s screenshot guide and Open Graph use case describe the relevant options.

Replace the example address with your post’s public URL, URL-encoded as a query parameter:
https://api.microlink.io/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2Fhindi-post&screenshot=true&meta=false&embed=screenshot.url&viewport.width=1200&viewport.height=630
meta=false skips page metadata extraction when you only need the screenshot. The result is delivered as an image response because of embed=screenshot.url.

Direct image response for social tags
When you want the image endpoint itself in your page metadata, use the same parameter pattern in both tags. In HTML, write ampersands as &:
<meta property="og:image" content="https://api.microlink.io/?url=ENCODED_POST_URL&screenshot=true&meta=false&embed=screenshot.url&viewport.width=1200&viewport.height=630">
<meta name="twitter:image" content="https://api.microlink.io/?url=ENCODED_POST_URL&screenshot=true&meta=false&embed=screenshot.url&viewport.width=1200&viewport.height=630">
Replace ENCODED_POST_URL with the URL-encoded post address. The URL must point to a page the service can load publicly. Microlink’s screenshot documentation shows the embedded image approach; its Open Graph example recommends checking the result with the target platform’s sharing debugger.

JSON response when your backend needs metadata
Omit embed=screenshot.url to use Microlink’s normal JSON response. The screenshot URL is then available at data.screenshot.url; use this mode if your application needs the hosted asset along with screenshot metadata such as dimensions, type, or size. See Microlink’s guide and SDK content-method reference.
Workflow for a Hindi blog post
- Publish the article. Use its public URL as the capture target. A draft or private page may not be accessible to the screenshot service.
- Request a fixed viewport. Set
viewport.width=1200andviewport.height=630for a bounded social-card frame. Keepmeta=falseif you do not need page metadata. - Choose the delivery mode. Use
embed=screenshot.urlfor an image endpoint in your social tags, or JSON when your backend needs the returned hosted asset and metadata. - Inspect the output. Confirm that the Hindi headline is legible, glyphs appear correctly, and the crop includes the intended content. Microlink’s reviewed documentation does not establish a Hindi-specific font-shaping or rendering guarantee; checking the actual image is therefore important.
- Test the share preview. Use the target social platform’s sharing debugger to confirm which image it reads from your page.
Adjust the capture to fit the thumbnail
Viewport, full page, or one element
A viewport capture produces a fixed frame suitable for a social card. Full-page capture is available when you need the entire scrollable page, but it is usually a different shape and purpose from a bounded thumbnail. You can also capture a CSS-selected element, such as an article hero, rather than the whole page; the element needs to exist and be visible when the capture runs. See Microlink’s screenshot parameters and SDK options.

PNG or JPEG
PNG is the documented default, and JPEG is also available. The SDK reference documents JPEG quality control. Choose based on the image’s visual content and file-size needs, then inspect the actual result rather than assuming one format will always be best. Details are in the screenshot guide and SDK content-method reference.
Cache behavior
The Microlink Open Graph use case states that the default cache lasts 24 hours. It describes configurable time-to-live (TTL) from one minute to 31 days, with TTL and stale-while-revalidate listed as Pro features. Plan terms can change, so verify Microlink’s current terms before building a production workflow around a longer cache. See the Open Graph use case.

Usage and production considerations
Microlink’s undated screenshot guide, accessed in 2026, documents 25 free requests per day and says an API key is not required for use. The same guide recommends a plan for production features including configurable TTL, stale caching, custom filenames, headers, and proxy. These are vendor-published terms, not independently measured service limits; check Microlink’s current documentation before relying on them. Screenshot guide.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For a page that changes after publication, consider when a cached capture will refresh: the documented default cache is 24 hours. If you require another refresh cadence, confirm whether the plan and TTL options you intend to use are currently available before launch. Avoid treating the API endpoint as a permanent image archive if your workflow requires durable control over stored assets; the JSON mode provides a hosted asset URL, but the reviewed documentation does not establish an archival guarantee.

Troubleshooting a thumbnail that looks wrong
- The endpoint does not capture the post: Confirm that the target URL is correctly URL-encoded and publicly reachable. Check that the query includes
screenshot=true. - The result is not an image: If you expect the endpoint itself to return an image, include
embed=screenshot.url. Without it, use the JSON response and readdata.screenshot.url. - The card includes too much or too little of the page: Set a fixed viewport for a thumbnail, or use full-page or CSS-element capture if that better matches the intended asset. Ensure a selected element is present and visible at capture time.
- Hindi text or the crop is difficult to read: Inspect the generated image at its intended display size. The reviewed Microlink pages do not promise Hindi-specific rendering fidelity; adjust the page’s layout if the captured headline is clipped or unclear.
- A recent page change is missing: Account for the documented default 24-hour cache. If a configurable TTL is needed, check the current plan terms before depending on it.
- The social preview does not match the image: Check that both social tags contain the intended URL and query parameters, then test with the sharing debugger for the platform where you plan to post.

ScreenshotNeo can capture a URL with one GET request and return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its clean-shot workflow accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server for AI agents, including Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
