The “significant update” to NVIDIA’s SHIELD TV Pro is a price rise, not a new SHIELD model or firmware release. The US price reportedly increased by $100, from $199.99 to $299.99, effective October 2, 2026. The change comes seven years after the current Pro launched in 2019.
What changed, and what does the SHIELD TV Pro cost now?
Tom’s Hardware reported that the new US price took effect on October 2, 2026. T3 also reported the move from $199.99 to $299.99. Those are US prices; they do not establish the price in other countries.

Tom’s Hardware quoted an NVIDIA spokesperson as saying: “Starting October 2, SHIELD Pro will be priced at $299. The cost of components, including memory, has increased substantially across the industry.” That is NVIDIA’s stated explanation, not an independently verified measure of industry costs or proof of what drove the price of this specific product.

Tom’s Hardware also noted a $249.21 Best Buy listing, but reported it was out of stock. It should not be treated as an available offer or as the SHIELD TV Pro’s normal current price.

Is the base SHIELD TV still available?
T3 reported that NVIDIA had scrapped the standard, less expensive SHIELD TV and no longer listed the Pro on its UK web store. The report also said the UK price increase had not yet been implemented, while the device was difficult to find. These are time-sensitive reports, not a guarantee of stock or product status across every market. Check local listings for the model, seller, stock, and price before buying.
What does the SHIELD TV Pro still offer?
Tom’s Hardware reports that the Pro has a Tegra X1+ processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, two USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and support for external storage. Its reported capabilities include 4K HDR playback at up to 60 frames per second, Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10, AI upscaling, high-resolution audio, GeForce NOW, and Android games. These are reported specifications and features, not results of hands-on testing.

For a comparison with Apple TV 4K or another streamer, check the current price and regional availability alongside HDR and audio-format support, local-media playback, external-storage options, gaming features, and software support.
