NVIDIA joined The Earthshot Prize on 14 October 2026 as a Global Alliance Founding Partner, committing accelerated-computing access, engineering help, training and developer resources for Earthshot finalists. The package includes NVIDIA Inception support, Earth-2 climate and weather tools, dedicated engineering assistance and access to NVIDIA DGX Spark desktop supercomputers.
What NVIDIA’s Earthshot partnership provides
The commitment is designed to help finalists build, test and deploy artificial-intelligence systems for environmental problems rather than simply provide a cash sponsorship. Support covers software, hardware, technical advice and education across the full development cycle.

| Support channel | What finalists receive | Primary use |
|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA Inception | Technical resources, training, developer tools and access to NVIDIA’s partner ecosystem | Starting and scaling technology development |
| Earth-2 resources | Open models and tools for weather forecasting and climate modelling | Climate-risk analysis, forecasting and scientific modelling |
| Dedicated engineering support | Assistance beyond the benefits normally available through Inception | Solving project-specific engineering and deployment problems |
| NVIDIA DGX Spark | A compact desktop supercomputer plus training for local AI development, testing and inference | Building, evaluating and running models locally |
The announcement does not publish a separate application process, allocation formula or hardware quantity. It describes the resources as support for Earthshot finalists, so access should not be read as an offer automatically available to every organization in the wider Earthshot nomination pipeline.

Who is eligible for NVIDIA support?
Earthshot finalists are the named beneficiaries
NVIDIA’s announcement identifies Earthshot finalists as the recipients. Fifteen finalists are selected each year, meaning the annual cohort is the clearest group covered by the commitment. The public announcement does not state whether former finalists, nominees, winners or external partners can request the same benefits independently.
#1 Best Overall
- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
How the support can be used
Finalists can use accelerated computing to predict climate risks earlier, monitor ecosystems, speed up scientific discovery and optimise complex systems at scale. The intended work spans all five Earthshot areas: protecting and restoring nature, cleaning the air, reviving oceans, building a waste-free world and fixing the climate.
What NVIDIA DGX Spark adds
DGX Spark is the partnership’s named physical system. It is described as a compact desktop supercomputer for developing, testing and running AI models locally, with training included. Local access can let a team iterate on models and data without sending every experiment to a remote service, although the announcement does not specify the system’s hardware configuration, capacity limits, shipping arrangements or geographic availability for finalists.
That makes DGX Spark different from the other support paths. Inception and Earth-2 are primarily program, software and ecosystem resources; engineering support is a human service; DGX Spark is an on-site computing platform. The announcement does not say that every finalist receives a unit, so the exact allocation should be confirmed directly with The Earthshot Prize and NVIDIA.

How Earth-2 tools could help climate projects
Earth-2 resources are aimed at weather forecasting and climate modelling. For an Earthshot team, that can support workflows such as estimating future hazards, testing the likely effects of interventions or combining environmental observations with simulation outputs. The announcement calls the models and tools open, but it does not define their licenses, supported regions, forecast resolution, hardware requirements or production-service terms.
Those details matter in practice. A model that is useful for research may still require local validation, domain-specific data and independent assessment before it informs emergency planning, infrastructure decisions or public policy. NVIDIA’s commitment supplies technical capability; it does not replace the scientific, regulatory and community review each project needs.
Why the partnership matters to Earthshot finalists
More capacity for small or growing teams
Environmental innovators often have strong field data or scientific ideas but limited access to high-performance computing and specialised engineers. Training, developer tools and partner connections can reduce the time needed to turn a prototype into a working system. Dedicated engineering help is intended to go beyond the standard Inception package when a project encounters a difficult technical bottleneck.

- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
A path from prototype to deployment
The combination of local DGX Spark systems, Earth-2 resources and engineering assistance covers model development, testing and deployment. A finalist might develop an algorithm locally, test it against weather or environmental data, then use accelerated infrastructure to operate it at a larger scale. The public announcement does not promise a particular performance improvement or deployment target, so outcomes will depend on each project’s data, model design and operational constraints.
How The Earthshot Prize fits into the announcement
Prince William founded The Earthshot Prize in 2020. It has five challenge categories, known as Earthshots, covering nature, air, oceans, waste and climate. More than 400 expert nominators submit solutions each year, producing a pipeline of nearly 7,000 solutions from 169 countries, according to the prize announcement.
Each year, 15 finalists are selected and five winners receive £1 million each to expand their impact. The prize says it has supported 90 finalists since launch and aims to have supported 150 by 2030. NVIDIA’s role adds computing and technical infrastructure to that broader support model; it does not replace the prize money or change the five Earthshot categories.

Founding partner, sponsor or member?
The precise designation is Global Alliance Founding Partner. “Founding member” may describe the relationship informally, but the announcement uses the partner title. It is more specific than calling NVIDIA only a sponsor: the stated commitment includes free technical resources, engineering support, training and accelerated-computing access for finalists, not merely event funding or branding.
Jason Knauf, chief executive officer of The Earthshot Prize, said: “Earthshot finalists around the world are using AI and technology to scale their solutions for people and the planet. We are thrilled that NVIDIA is joining forces with the leaders on the front line of these efforts — this is a transformational opportunity for our community.”
NVIDIA chief executive officer Jensen Huang said: “Super Intelligence can bring solutions to humanity’s greatest challenges within reach—and help create a future where humanity and our planet thrive together.” He connected the partnership to discovering sustainable energy sources, developing lower-resource materials and translating scientific breakthroughs into industries that support sustainable prosperity.
What has not been announced
- No public list identifies which individual finalists will receive DGX Spark systems.
- No quantities, delivery dates, regional restrictions or replacement terms are stated for the hardware.
- No technical specifications, model benchmarks or guaranteed computing allowance are provided.
- No separate eligibility rules are published for Inception, Earth-2 or dedicated engineering support within the finalist cohort.
- No claim is made that NVIDIA will fund the £1 million awards or operate the Earthshot selection process.
The Bottom Line
NVIDIA’s October 2026 agreement makes it a Global Alliance Founding Partner of The Earthshot Prize, with finalist support built around computing access, engineering expertise, training, Earth-2 climate tools and DGX Spark local AI systems. The practical value is potentially substantial, but individual hardware allocations and operating terms have not yet been published.
