Why did Nscale hire him?
Nscale’s stated rationale is the need to build systems and processes that can support customer demand while the company expands globally. CEO Josh Payne said Nscale was “rapidly scaling our vertically integrated platform globally to serve high customer demand” and that systems which scale while maintaining operational excellence are vital to its mission.

What Nscale does
Nscale describes itself as a full-stack AI cloud platform combining software, computing capacity, and power. Its offering includes cloud services for AI training and inference alongside the data centers and power infrastructure that support them. The company says it serves enterprises and governments. That infrastructure focus helps explain why its announcement emphasizes operational systems and coordination across regions and functions.

Bloomberg’s October 2, 2026, report connected Osofsky’s appointment with Nscale’s proposed IPO, citing a person familiar with the matter who was not named. That is Bloomberg’s reported context, not the rationale stated by Nscale or a reason Osofsky publicly gave for joining. Nscale’s announcement instead points to customer demand, global expansion, and the need for operational excellence; the hiring announcement by itself does not confirm an IPO plan or its outcome.
