Nova Era: Atom is currently holding a Steam gameplay playtest scheduled to run from September 28, 2026, at 14:00 UTC until October 11, 2026, at 10:00 UTC. The test is a chance to try selected gameplay—not the full release: the Steam listing still describes the game as “Coming soon.” Access may be limited, so check the store page rather than assuming the demo is immediately available.
How to join the Nova Era: Atom playtest
The development team’s September 28 announcement directs players to the Steam store page to download the demo. The listing currently shows a “Request Access” control and says players will be notified when the developer is ready to admit more participants; requesting access does not guarantee immediate entry.

The developer describes Nova Era: Atom as a third-person spaceship shooter built on an MMORPG framework. The Steam listing’s current matchmaking description is more specific: search, combat, and extraction missions use single-player matchmaking, alongside exploration of the world. The MMO framing should not be taken to mean that every activity in this test is already a large-scale multiplayer match.

The announced test focuses on an extraction loop: explore, scavenge, fight ship-to-ship, then attempt warp extraction. The development team’s guiding line is, “Only what you extract is truly yours.” The team says it is using the test to assess that loop as well as gameplay flow, balance, stability, and server capacity.
Systems highlighted for this test
- Five-component ship loadouts and hot-swappable chips.
- Four classes and talent-based builds.
- World exploration, resource gathering, and contracts.
- Search, combat, and extraction missions, with warp extraction as the objective of the loop.
The developer says more content will be added as development continues. A June 22 post also discussed planned ship-control and interface iteration, plus a future energy-damage ship class; those were described as future work, not confirmed features of this September playtest.

Nova Era: Atom PC requirements
The official Steam store requirements and the September 28 developer announcement do not use the same minimum GPU wording. The announcement gives the clearer graphics details, so the table reports those figures with their source and notes the conflict rather than silently correcting the store listing.

Requirements and display guidance are from the September 28 developer announcement and the Steam store listing. In particular, the store’s displayed minimum graphics string, “NVIDIA GeForce GTX2026,” appears malformed and conflicts with the announcement’s RTX 2060 minimum. Check the developer’s current guidance if your system is near the minimum.

- INTRO TO DECK BUILDING: Subatomic is a card drafting strategy game where 2-4 players compete to build point-scoring atoms by playing subatomic particle cards from their unique deck. You can purchase new cards and add them to your deck throughout the game, making everyone’s strategy different. Build atoms like Helium and Beryllium, and gain bonus points for claiming the most of each element. Subatomic is designed to be an approachable and fun board game for ages 14+.
- ACCURATE SCIENCE: Designed by John J. Coveyou, a chemical engineer, Subatomic was designed with real science in mind. Your deck begins with up quarks, down quarks, and photons. Use these cards to obtain protons, neutrons, and electrons which improve your deck. You'll soon be building atoms, claiming Element Cards to score points, and learning organic chemistry along the way. Included with the game is a Science Behind booklet, crowdsourced from a diverse team of Ph.D. doctors and scientists from around the world.
- EDUTAINMENT THAT’S FUN: Genius Games creates science-accurate games that are not only educational, but engaging, strategic, and fun. Subatomic is NGSS and STEM compliant, is American MENSA recommended, was a MENSA Mind Games finalist, and is currently used in many high school classrooms worldwide. Subatomic is also revered by gamers, having received the coveted Seal of Excellence from The Dice Tower.
- SCIENCE HISTORY: As you construct atoms, you can also spend energy recruiting famous scientists into your deck, like Albert Einstein, Erwin Schrodinger, and Marie Curie. These famous inventors were famous for their contributions to the field of molecular chemistry and grant you special powers to give you an edge over your opponents.
- PLAYER COUNT AND GAME TIME: Subatomic is a board game for 2 to 4 players, and plays in about 40-60 minutes. This family board game also makes a great gift for chemists, doctors, scientists, teachers, kids, and teens. No matter the group, Subatomic will provide lots of fun while stimulating the scientist inside all of us!
What has changed during the test
A September 29 maintenance note announced Rel_0.2.0 updates to extraction gates and results, quest waypoints and flows, ship cores and component replacement, item transfers and storage, star-map markers, audio transitions, localization, environment art, and network stability. This shows that the build is being revised during the playtest; it does not establish that every bug is fixed or that performance will be stable on every PC.
Who publishes the game, and what does the listing say?
The Steam page names Amazing Game as developer and Hype Kid as publisher. It lists English and Simplified Chinese interfaces, full audio, and subtitles. Steam also flags in-game purchases, in-game chat, and online interactivity as interactive elements. The listing does not specify purchase pricing or what any in-game purchases may include.
