In the UK snapshot available here, Nothing lists the Phone (4a) 8GB/128GB at £379. Samsung announced a US starting price of $449.99 for the Galaxy A37 5G, but those figures are from different markets and are not a like-for-like price comparison. On specifications, Samsung publishes substantially more detail: its A37 has a 6.7-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED display, three rear cameras, a 5,000mAh typical battery and IP68 protection. Nothing confirms a triple-camera system and advertises up to 70x zoom, but the official material available here does not establish enough hardware detail for a full spec-by-spec verdict.
At a glance: what can be compared
The table distinguishes official specifications from details that were not verified in the official Nothing material available for this comparison. Prices are snapshots, not a claim about current stock or equivalent value. The A37 specifications and options below refer to Samsung’s US announcement unless a Korean-market detail is identified.

How much more does the Galaxy A37 cost?
The available figures do not establish a valid price difference. Nothing’s £379 figure is for the UK 8GB/128GB Phone (4a) shown on its official product page. Samsung’s $449.99 figure is the US starting price for the Galaxy A37 5G. Comparing them directly would mix currencies, markets and potentially configurations.

Those are launch prices for that configuration, not a confirmed current retail price in each country. Samsung’s Korean launch price of ₩598,400 applies to the Korean 6GB/128GB model and should likewise not be compared with prices from another market.

Which phone has the stronger specifications?
Display and build
Samsung’s A37 specification is clear: a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen with refresh rates up to 120Hz, plus Vision Booster. Nothing’s official page reviewed here does not give a complete display specification, so there is not enough verified information to compare screen size, resolution, panel technology or refresh rate fairly.
Samsung also specifies an IP68 rating and gives the A37’s dimensions and 196g weight. An equivalent Nothing IP rating, dimensions and weight were not verified here. That makes Samsung the more documented option for readers prioritizing stated water and dust protection, but it does not establish that the Nothing phone lacks a particular protection feature.

Cameras and zoom
The A37 has a 50MP wide camera, 8MP ultrawide and 5MP macro camera, with a 12MP front camera. Samsung Korea identifies optical image stabilization (OIS) on the main wide camera. Nothing confirms three rear cameras and promotes up to 70x ultra zoom, but the available official information does not specify the individual sensors or clarify an optical zoom range. “Up to 70x” is a manufacturer zoom claim; it should not be read as 70x optical zoom.
These specifications do not show which phone takes better photos. Megapixel counts and zoom labels alone cannot establish image quality, and no credible side-by-side camera test is established here. Choose based on your camera priorities only after checking sample images or independent comparisons for the exact models.
Battery, charging and everyday performance
Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery capacity for the A37. Its Korean announcement says the phone can reach up to 60% charge in 30 minutes with Super Fast Charging 2.0; that is Samsung’s stated figure, not a measured result from an independent test. The available Nothing material does not establish battery capacity or charging speed, and there are no comparable battery-endurance or performance results here.

Neither the published A37 specification nor the available Nothing page, by itself, answers which phone runs faster or lasts longer in everyday use. Do not treat capacity, charging claims or marketing language as a substitute for matched testing.
Which phone is likely to last longer?
Samsung makes a specific software-support commitment for the Galaxy A37: up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates, counted from the first global launch. Samsung says timing and availability can vary by model and market. No equivalent Nothing Phone (4a) support term was verified in the official material available here.
That makes the A37 the more clearly documented choice if a published support commitment is central to your decision. It does not prove that the Nothing phone will receive less support; the available evidence simply does not establish a comparable term. Check the support policy for the exact market and variant before buying.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy A37 5G if…
- You want a published display specification: 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED at up to 120Hz.
- You value a stated IP68 rating, a 5,000mAh typical battery or a listed OIS-equipped 50MP main camera.
- A clearly stated Samsung software-support commitment is important, and you have confirmed it applies to your market.
Consider the Nothing Phone (4a) if…
- You are comparing the actual local price and configuration and the Phone (4a) is the better deal for you.
- Nothing’s triple-camera and zoom positioning appeals to you, and you have checked camera samples or detailed specifications for the exact model.
- You prefer to decide after confirming the display, battery, durability and support details that are not established in the official material compared here.
On the evidence available, Samsung is the easier phone to assess on paper, not a proven universal winner. A fair final choice depends on matched local prices and the features that matter most to you.
