Both are reported with Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, so that shared chip name alone does not establish a performance winner. Prices and some specifications vary by market, so compare the exact local models before buying.
Nothing Phone (4a) Pro vs OPPO Reno16 5G: key specs
This comparison is between the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro and the standard OPPO Reno16 5G—not the Reno16 Pro or Reno16 F. OPPO says regional availability and specifications vary. The Reno16 display and camera details below refer to the UK version reviewed by TechRadar; Nothing figures are from its product page.

How the displays and size differ
The Nothing’s listed 6.83-inch display is substantially larger than the UK Reno16’s 6.32-inch panel. It also has the higher listed refresh-rate ceiling—up to 144Hz versus 120Hz—while the Reno16 review specifies a 2640 × 1216 resolution. If a roomy screen is your priority, the Nothing has the clearer paper advantage; if you prefer a smaller handset, the Reno16 is the more compact choice. Screen size and refresh rate do not, by themselves, establish overall display quality.

Camera comparison: periscope reach or three 50MP cameras?
Nothing lists a 50MP periscope camera with optical image stabilization and advertises zoom of up to 140x. A maximum zoom figure is not a guarantee of usable detail: very high zoom can involve digital magnification, and the advertised maximum should not be treated as equivalent to optical zoom.
#1 Best Overall
- Heavy-duty bumper frame case
- Anti-slip embossed texture for a secure grip
- Non-yellowing TPU bumper and polycarbonate back
- Air Cushion Bumper design for enhanced shock protection
- Built-in strap holes to attach wrist straps and other accessories
The reviewed UK Reno16 instead has three 50MP rear cameras, including a telephoto lens. OPPO’s global announcement describes approximately 3.5x optical telephoto zoom. Those figures describe different things—an advertised maximum on the Nothing and an optical zoom specification for the Reno16—so they are not a like-for-like image-quality test. Choose based on the camera arrangement and shooting range you value, rather than the largest zoom number alone.
Performance, battery and charging
Chipset
Both models are reported with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. That makes the named processor a shared specification, not evidence that one phone is faster. No comparable performance benchmark for these two models is established here.
Battery and charging
The reviewed UK Reno16 is listed with a 6,000mAh battery and 80W wired charging. OPPO’s global materials say Reno16 battery capacity varies by region and cite up to 6,700mAh typical capacity for some versions; that maximum should not be applied to every regional model. A matching battery-capacity or charging figure for the Nothing is not established in the cited product-page information, so a complete battery comparison is not possible from these specifications.
Durability and software support
Nothing lists IP65 and says the Phone (4a) Pro was tested under 25cm of water for up to 20 minutes. OPPO describes IP68/IP69/IP69K classifications for Reno16 series models under controlled laboratory conditions, depending on the stated standard. These are test classifications, not promises that either handset is immune to water or dust damage; check the exact regional model and its warranty terms.

For the UK prices reported by TechRadar in 2026, the Phone (4a) Pro at £499 is £150 less than the Reno16 5G at £649. The Reno16 review configuration has 8GB RAM and 512GB storage; the cited UK price comparison is specific to those reported prices, not a universal price gap or a guarantee of current retailer offers.
Prices elsewhere are not directly comparable because they refer to different currencies, storage tiers and market listings:
- United States: Nothing’s US page displayed $419 for the 8GB+128GB Phone (4a) Pro, against a displayed former price of $499, at research time. This is a volatile store display, not a guaranteed ongoing offer.
- India: OPPO lists the Reno16 5G at ₹66,999 for 8GB+256GB and ₹72,999 for 12GB+256GB. OPPO says these prices were correct as of August 31, 2026, and may change.
OPPO’s global announcement says pricing, regional availability and release timing vary by market. Check current local listings and compare equivalent storage configurations before deciding which phone costs less where you live.
Quick Recap
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro if you want the larger listed display, a periscope camera, or the lower of the two reported UK prices.
- Choose the standard OPPO Reno16 5G if you prefer the smaller reviewed display or want the reviewed version’s triple-50MP rear-camera setup, 6,000mAh battery and 80W wired charging.
- Check the exact regional listing first if battery capacity, storage, price, availability or warranty could change your decision. Do not substitute Reno16 Pro or Reno16 F specifications for the standard Reno16.
