The Nothing Phone (3a) and Samsung Galaxy M47 5G trade different strengths: Nothing lists a dedicated 2x optical-zoom camera and a 32 MP selfie camera, while Samsung lists a larger 6,000 mAh typical battery and a six-generation OS-upgrade and six-year security-update policy. Neither specification sheet establishes which phone takes better photos or lasts longer in everyday use. A dependable current price difference is also not established, so compare the same RAM and storage configuration at Indian retailers before deciding.

Which phone has the more useful camera setup?
Choose Nothing for a dedicated zoom camera on paper
Nothing lists three rear cameras: a 50 MP optically stabilized main camera, a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and an 8 MP ultrawide. That gives the specification sheet a clearly identified optical-zoom option for framing distant subjects without relying only on cropping the main camera image.

Samsung lists three rear cameras, but not a telephoto
Samsung specifies a 50 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP rear system with OIS. The listed camera specifications do not identify a dedicated telephoto camera or optical-zoom focal length. Nothing also lists a higher-resolution front camera—32 MP versus Samsung’s 12 MP—but megapixel counts alone do not establish detail, low-light performance, color, stabilization results or overall image quality. No matched independent camera test is established by these specifications.
How do the displays compare?
Both manufacturers list FHD+ AMOLED-family displays with refresh rates up to 120 Hz. Nothing specifies a 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED screen; Samsung describes its panel as 16.91 cm diagonally across the full rectangle, in the 6.7-inch class, with Super AMOLED and 1080 × 2340 resolution. The slightly different diagonal figures and panel labels do not establish measured brightness or that one screen looks better in use.
Nothing’s India page advertises a 3,000-nit peak-brightness figure while explicitly comparing it with the Phone (2a) Plus. That marketing comparison is not a matched measurement against the Galaxy M47 5G, so it should not be read as proof of a brightness advantage over Samsung.

Battery capacity and charging: what the numbers do—and do not—say
Samsung lists a 6,000 mAh typical battery, 1,000 mAh more stated capacity than Nothing’s 5,000 mAh battery. Samsung says actual battery life varies with network conditions, usage and other factors. The capacity difference alone does not establish how many hours either phone will last for a particular person.
Nothing lists 50 W charging and Samsung lists 45 W; Samsung says the fast charger is sold separately. These wattages do not establish comparative time to a full charge, and the Samsung page does not mean a charger is included. Check the box contents and the cost of a compatible charger when comparing what you will actually buy.
Software support and longer-term ownership
Samsung states that the Galaxy M47 5G is eligible for six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates from its first global launch date, subject to policy change. Its India page gives a launch date of 29 June 2026 and says security-update validity runs through 31 July 2032. The policy is a concrete ownership factor if you plan to keep a phone for several years, but delivery timing for individual updates is not specified by that duration statement.

The cited Nothing India product page does not state a directly comparable OS-upgrade or security-update commitment. That means the policies cannot be compared from these cited product-page details alone; it does not, by itself, establish that Nothing provides no updates.

A reliable current price gap cannot be calculated from the available listed prices: Samsung’s accessed product pages showed unresolved price fields, while indexed comparison listings used different configurations and may change. The Nothing India page presents an 8 GB + 128 GB configuration; Samsung’s official pages cover 6 GB and 8 GB memory variants. Comparing a price for one capacity with a different one can produce a misleading result.
For a useful like-for-like check, compare the same RAM and storage capacity where available, then confirm that the seller, warranty, delivery location and offer conditions also match. Record the date you checked: phone prices, stock and promotions can move. The Nothing page directs buyers to Flipkart, but a live listing and a matched Samsung price still need checking at the time of purchase.
Which one should you buy?
- Pick the Nothing Phone (3a) if a dedicated 2x optical telephoto camera, an 8 MP ultrawide, or the listed 32 MP front camera best fits your priorities. Its listed charging wattage is also higher, though that does not prove a faster real-world charge.
- Pick the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G if the larger stated typical battery capacity or Samsung’s stated six-generation OS-upgrade and six-year security-update policy matters most. Budget for a compatible fast charger if you want 45 W charging, because Samsung says it is sold separately.
- Wait to decide on price until you can compare live India prices for the same RAM/storage variant and purchase conditions. The published information here does not support calling either model cheaper.
For official feature details, see Nothing India and the Samsung India pages for the 6 GB Galaxy M47 5G and 8 GB Galaxy M47 5G.
