This is a selection guide for engineers designing appliance electronics, not a guide to buying finished refrigerators or washing machines. Infineon’s public application pages identify component families for motor drives, power stages, control and sensing; the right choice depends on the appliance, motor and operating conditions.
What the 2026 guide covers—and what is publicly verifiable
Infineon lists a “2026 Home Appliance Guide” as an English Product Selection Guide, version 01_00, dated August 14, 2026, with MyInfineon access required. A separate guide landing-page result is dated March 16, 2026; those are distinct listing dates. The full current guide is not publicly readable in the available material, so specific recommendations below are grounded in Infineon’s public application pages rather than attributed to the restricted PDF. The public 2025 guide provides broader context, covering energy efficiency, sustainability, smart-home integration, motor control, power management, sensing and connectivity, with chapters on ceiling fans, laundry machines, tumble dryers, refrigerators and freezers. It is useful for understanding the scope of appliance design, but it is not the latest 2026 component list. 2025 Home Appliance Selection Guide

An inverterized motor drive needs a power stage, gate driving and real-time control. Infineon presents CIPOS intelligent power modules (IPMs) as an integration option, while discrete TRENCHSTOP IGBTs and CoolMOS or OptiMOS MOSFETs allow more power-stage flexibility. EiceDRIVER gate-driver ICs and PSOC Control C3 MCUs are among the named driver and control families; CoolGaN and CoolSiC are identified as next-generation device options. XENSIV sensors can support feedback such as position, current, pressure, vibration or presence. These are families to evaluate, not interchangeable parts or a performance ranking. - Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Approach | Why consider it | What to validate |
|---|---|---|
| Integrated IPM | Infineon describes CIPOS IPMs as a way to reduce component count and footprint and simplify development for laundry applications; refrigerator pages also identify IPMs for compact designs. | Check the module’s electrical and thermal limits, required protection and control interface, and whether its integration fits the board and load. Laundry applications Refrigeration applications |
| Discrete IGBTs or MOSFETs | Infineon describes discrete devices as an option when a design needs flexibility, thermal optimization or customization; fans also present discrete devices as a flexibility and price/performance path. | Account for gate driving, protection, layout, thermal design and the complete operating range. Laundry applications Ceiling-fan applications |
Make the comparison against the actual application rather than a single headline efficiency figure. Consider the motor and load profile; voltage and current; heat removal; efficiency across intended operating conditions; EMI and protection needs; board area; system cost; sensing and control requirements; and connectivity or security needs. The cited application pages outline these factors, but part selection still requires datasheet and system-level validation.
Which Infineon families are named for each appliance?
Washers and dryers
Infineon identifies low acoustic noise, water and detergent efficiency, power efficiency, intuitive HMI, connectivity and smart functions as requirements for modern laundry machines and dryers. For inverterized BLDC motor drives, it lists both discrete MOSFETs and IGBTs and integrated IPMs. The 600 V RC-D2 IGBT series is specifically described as developed for inverterized laundry-machine motors; that application statement alone does not determine whether it fits a particular design. For control MCUs, Infineon names XMC1300/1400 for single-motor control, XMC7000 for two or three motors, and PSOC Control C3M for configurations such as a single motor plus PFC or dual motor plus PFC. Compare the intended motor count, real-time control functions, topology and wide-bandgap compatibility, then verify the current device documentation before settling on a specific part. Refrigerators and freezers
Infineon links refrigerator and freezer efficiency to inverterized compressor drives and motor control. Its public page names CoolMOS 8 and PFD7 MOSFET families for light-load efficiency, CIPOS Micro IPMs for compact integrated designs and humidity resistance, and 600 V RC-D2 IGBTs or CIPOS Mini IPMs as full-load design options. The vendor describes the IGBT option in terms of EMI and reliable full-load operation, and the IPM in terms of integration and SOI gate-driver technology. These are vendor-stated characteristics, not independent comparative test results. Infineon refrigeration applications

Ceiling fans
For inverterized fan motors, Infineon presents IPMs as an integration route and discrete IGBTs or MOSFETs as a flexibility and price/performance route. It also names iMOTION motor-control ICs and evaluation boards for prototyping. One Infineon high-voltage ceiling-fan reference design specifies 35 W maximum input power and a PFC stage with power factor greater than 0.9. Those numbers describe that reference design only; they are not general specifications for ceiling fans. Infineon ceiling-fan applications

How to validate a candidate before committing to it
- Define the load. Record appliance type, motor or compressor, motor count, load profile and operating conditions. A family named for one application is a candidate to investigate, not proof of fit.
- Choose the power-stage approach. Decide whether integration and reduced footprint or discrete-device flexibility and thermal customization better suit the board and development constraints.
- Check the full electrical and thermal design. Use the current datasheet for the exact candidate part to verify voltage, current, switching, thermal limits, protection requirements and operating conditions. Evaluate efficiency over the intended load range rather than extrapolating from a family-level description.
- Match control and sensing. Confirm the MCU’s motor count, real-time functions and topology fit; determine which feedback signals are needed and how they will be measured.
- Validate the complete appliance system. Assess EMI, safety-related design constraints, board layout, cooling, connectivity and security needs in the intended product configuration.
- Check procurement by exact part number and region. The application pages establish families and design uses, not current stock, distributor pricing or regional availability. Confirm the exact SKU and documentation with current supplier channels.
