On Nothing’s UK listings checked on 4 October 2026, the Phone (3) cost £699 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the Phone (3a) was listed at £299 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and marked sold out. That is a £400 gap between those particular listings—not a like-for-like price premium, since the configurations differ. Model and listing RAM and storage Observed price Availability shown
Nothing Phone (3), UK 12GB + 256GB £699 Not stated on the cited listing
Nothing Phone (3a), UK 8GB + 128GB £299 Sold out

The arithmetic difference is £400, but it compares a higher-memory Phone (3) with the lower-tier Phone (3a). It should be read as the observed gap between those UK listings, not as a price comparison at matching RAM and storage. Nothing Europe separately displayed the Phone (3a) from €329; that is a different market and should not be treated as a UK price.

These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements. In particular, peak-brightness figures do not establish how the screens compare in everyday conditions, and battery capacity alone does not predict battery life.

Which phone has the better screen?

The Phone (3a) has the larger panel at 6.77 inches, compared with 6.67 inches on the Phone (3). Both are specified at 120Hz, while Nothing describes the 3a’s refresh rate as adaptive. The Phone (3) has the higher manufacturer-stated peak brightness: 4,500 nits versus 3,000 nits for the 3a. Those peak claims are specifications rather than a controlled real-world comparison, so they do not on their own establish which screen will look better in a particular setting.

How the processors differ

The Phone (3) uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, while the Phone (3a) uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. That places the Phone (3) in the higher processor tier on paper. The available specifications do not establish benchmark results or quantify how much faster it will feel for a particular app or workload.

Camera systems: versatility, not a proven quality ranking

Phone (3): four 50MP cameras

Nothing describes the Phone (3) as having four 50MP cameras. That count and resolution alone do not prove better photos; the specifications cited here do not provide an independent image-quality comparison.

Phone (3a): dedicated telephoto and ultra-wide

The Phone (3a) has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 50MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Nothing also lists 4x in-sensor zoom and 30x digital “ultra zoom” for the telephoto system. Its front camera is 32MP. The distinct telephoto and ultra-wide lenses give the 3a specified camera roles beyond its main camera, but the figures do not establish how its photos compare with the Phone (3)’s.

The Phone (3) supports 65W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging; the 3a is listed with 50W wired charging, while wireless charging is not listed in its cited specification page. The capacity figures do not establish comparative endurance, and the charging specifications do not say how long either phone takes to charge in a particular situation.

Software support and what comes in the box

Nothing’s Phone (3a) specification page states three years of Android updates and six years of security patches. A comparable Phone (3) support term is not established by the cited official information, so these figures do not support a direct longevity ranking. The Phone (3a) is listed with Nothing OS 3.1, powered by Android 15.

Nothing lists the Phone (3a) box contents as the handset, USB-C cable, pre-applied screen protector, SIM ejector tool and safety card. A case is not among the listed contents.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose the Phone (3) if its higher-tier Snapdragon processor, four 50MP cameras, wireless charging and the listed 12GB/256GB configuration matter enough to justify its higher observed UK listing price.
  • Choose the Phone (3a) if you want to spend less at the observed UK listing, while getting a large 120Hz screen and a specified 2x optical telephoto camera. Check current stock and the price for the configuration you want.

These are spec-based trade-offs, not claims about tested speed, photo quality or battery life. The UK figures above are a dated snapshot; they do not establish current US pricing, carrier compatibility or prices in other markets.
