Nothing Headphone (1) Pro adds more capable hardware and useful creator-focused features, but it is not an automatic upgrade from the original Headphone (1). At the review-time prices of £349 in the UK and $399 in the US, the Pro makes the strongest case for first-time buyers and listeners who will use its Flat EQ mode, upgraded driver system or adaptive noise cancellation. Owners of the original can reasonably keep it: reviewers still consider that model good value and do not regard it as obsolete.
What is new in Headphone (1) Pro?
Nothing’s Pro model changes the sound hardware, noise cancellation, connectivity and fit claims while retaining the same broad product-family proposition. These are published specifications; they do not guarantee that every listener will hear an improvement or use every feature.
| Feature | Headphone (1) Pro |
|---|---|
| Driver arrangement | 40 mm dynamic bass driver, 13 × 8 mm precision dynamic driver and solid-state xMEMS treble driver; Nothing product specifications |
| Noise cancellation | Real-time adaptive ANC rated by Nothing up to 46 dB, using ten microphones and a new silicone sound seal. Nothing describes 46 dB as a theoretical laboratory maximum; results vary by environment. Nothing product specifications |
| Wireless and codecs | Bluetooth 6.1; AAC, SBC and LDAC for music, plus LC3 for broadcast audio. Nothing product specifications |
| Wired audio | USB-C lossless playback up to 24-bit/192 kHz and AUX up to 24-bit/96 kHz. Nothing product specifications |
| Spatial and broadcast audio | Spatial Audio with head tracking; Auracast support as both transmitter and receiver. A receiving device must also support Auracast. Nothing product specifications |
| Weight | 327 g for the headphones and 383.5 g for the case, according to Nothing. Nothing product specifications |
Nothing lists dual connection and says the headphones can connect to two devices and switch between them. That is not the same as seamless, full multipoint: SoundGuys says the Pro does not support “true Multipoint,” although it can connect to two sources and switch streams. SoundGuys’ review
Does the sound and ANC justify the upgrade?
The Pro’s three-driver arrangement is the most substantial hardware change, but specifications alone cannot establish which model sounds better to you. Creative Bloq reports hearing improved ANC, while T3 found the ANC solid but did not perceive a large improvement in its limited real-world use. Those are individual review observations, not a controlled head-to-head measurement. Creative Bloq T3

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Nothing rates adaptive ANC at up to 46 dB, but that figure is a theoretical maximum under laboratory conditions and actual performance varies by surroundings. A higher rating or microphone count should not be read as a proportional improvement in a commute, office or airplane cabin. If noise cancelling is the reason to upgrade, consider what your current headphones fail to block in your own environment.
Flat EQ is the clearest reason for some listeners to choose Pro
Flat EQ is designed for a clean, neutral presentation when reviewing tracks, comparing mixes or making critical listening decisions. Nothing says it was developed with Metropolis Studios for creators and listeners who want that use case. It is a more specific differentiator than the general promise of improved sound, and most useful if you will actually switch into a neutral monitoring mode.

There is a trade-off: when Flat EQ is enabled, Transparency Mode, Spatial Audio and other EQ settings are disabled. If you mainly listen casually and prefer customized sound, that limitation may make Flat EQ irrelevant rather than a reason to pay more. Nothing Support: using Flat EQ
Battery life: manufacturer ratings, not independent results
Nothing’s stated maximums depend on codec, ANC, volume and settings. The company specifies 50% volume and otherwise default settings for the AAC figures. These are rated playback estimates, not runtime results from an independent test.

Nothing also rates a five-minute charge for up to four hours of playback with ANC off or two hours with ANC on. Actual battery life varies with volume, source, features and usage. SoundGuys said its review had not yet completed an independent battery test, so treat the figures as manufacturer estimates. SoundGuys
Comfort and case: claimed changes, mixed impressions
Nothing says the Pro’s dual-layer cushions are 50% softer than the original’s, with a headband that is 10% wider and has 12% thicker padding. These percentages are the manufacturer’s comparisons, not independent comfort measurements. Reviews differ on how much the changes improve the wearing experience, so fit, glasses compatibility and long-session comfort remain personal considerations.

The carrying case divides reviewers. Creative Bloq appreciates its smaller footprint compared with the original’s case. T3 criticizes the hard-shell design because it leaves the headband exposed and offers limited space for accessories. The headphones weigh 327 g and the case 383.5 g according to Nothing, so consider both the packed size and whether you need room for cables or other gear.

Keep the original if it already meets your needs
Creative Bloq says the original remains a very good pair for the price and that the Pro has not made it feel dated. T3 likewise prefers the original on value and considers the improvement insufficient to justify the price jump for many existing owners. These are reviewer judgments, not a universal verdict, but they make a compelling case against upgrading simply because the Pro is newer. Creative Bloq T3

Consider Pro if a specific new feature solves a real problem
- You want Flat EQ for critical listening, reviewing or mix comparisons, and accept that it disables Transparency Mode, Spatial Audio and other EQ settings.
- Your current headphones’ ANC is inadequate in the environments where you use them, and the Pro’s fit and sound suit you.
- You want the Pro’s driver arrangement, wired USB-C audio specification, or Auracast support and will make practical use of it.
- You are buying your first Nothing headphones and prefer the richer feature set over the lower-cost original.
Compare the price you can actually buy at
T3 reported review-time prices of $399 in the US and £349 in the UK; Creative Bloq also reported £349 in the UK. T3 noted the UK figure was £100 above the original Headphone (1)’s launch price. These are time- and market-specific review figures, not current quotes, and the sources do not establish live sale pricing or availability elsewhere. Check local retailer prices before deciding. The original Headphone (1) is the direct alternative for someone who wants Nothing’s design and controls without paying for Pro features. T3 also names the Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless as a premium comparison, praising its sound, battery and conventional case; its relative price and availability can change, so check current local listings rather than relying on an old comparison. T3
Verdict
Nothing Headphone (1) Pro is the more feature-rich model, but its best upgrade case is selective: Flat EQ for creators and critical listeners, or improvements that address a clear shortcoming in your current headphones. For most original Headphone (1) owners, the review evidence does not establish a large enough everyday leap to make replacement an obvious value. First-time buyers have a stronger reason to consider Pro, provided its current local price and feature trade-offs fit their needs.
