To use Norton VPN, open the Norton VPN app or the VPN feature inside Norton 360, start a connection, and wait until the app confirms it is connected. The menu path depends on which product and device you use.
Open the right Norton app
Norton VPN is available as a standalone app and as a feature in Norton 360. Follow the route for the product you have:

Norton also provides connection instructions for smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV; the steps depend on the device and app. After starting a connection on any device, check that the app displays a connected status before relying on the VPN.
Choose a VPN location
Norton selects an optimal regional data center by default. If you need a different location, open the location selector and choose a country or city where the app offers one. Norton’s location guide also describes searching available locations. The controls can vary by app version, operating system, and plan, so use the labels shown in your app.

Know what happens when you change locations
Changing locations can briefly interrupt the secure connection. If Kill Switch is enabled, Norton blocks internet access until the VPN reconnects; this avoids sending traffic outside the VPN during the interruption. On Windows and Mac, Norton’s prompt may let you enable Kill Switch or proceed without it. If you enable it, expect internet access to remain blocked until the connection returns.
Keep a particular app outside the VPN
If a printer, scanner, email client, or another app has trouble while the VPN is on, first disconnect the VPN to check whether it is causing the problem. If you need the VPN active for other traffic, Split Tunneling can exclude selected app traffic on Windows, macOS, and Android, according to Norton’s support instructions. Those instructions do not establish that Split Tunneling is available on iOS.

- Disconnect the VPN before changing Split Tunneling exclusions.
- Open the app’s settings and find Split Tunneling.
- Select the apps whose traffic should be excluded, then reconnect the VPN and test them.
Troubleshoot connection and access problems
The VPN will not connect or a site will not load
Try another available region. A different location may resolve a connection or site-access problem, but it does not guarantee access to a particular website or streaming service.

Norton documents a manual IP refresh as a troubleshooting option. The VPN must be connected and not paused; the refreshed IP stays in the same location. A Kill Switch prompt may appear during the refresh. This is an option to try, not a promise that a service will work afterward.

A printer or app stops working
Test the app once with the VPN disconnected. If that fixes it and you need the VPN on, use Split Tunneling where supported, making sure the VPN is off while you change the exclusions.
