What changes between AntiVirus Plus and Norton 360 Standard?
Norton’s comparison matrix positions AntiVirus Plus as a foundational protection plan and Standard as a broader privacy-and-device option. Both plans list antivirus and malware protection, foundational scam protection, Safe Web, Safe SMS, Deepfake Protection, Norton Genie, a password manager, and 2 GB of cloud backup. Standard adds a VPN and Dark Web Monitoring.

These features and listed device counts come from Norton’s plan comparison page. Norton’s AntiVirus Plus FAQ also confirms 2 GB of cloud backup and a password manager, but describes device coverage as a single device or up to five devices depending on the subscription. That conflicts with the comparison matrix’s one-device listing. Treat the allowance as specific to the offer you select, not as a guaranteed feature of every AntiVirus Plus subscription.

Which plan should you choose?
AntiVirus Plus for core protection on one device
AntiVirus Plus fits a reader who wants the basic protection Norton assigns to this tier and does not need Norton’s VPN or Dark Web Monitoring. The comparison page lists one device. Because Norton’s product FAQ describes other subscription options, verify the device count on the specific offer before paying, especially if you intend to protect more than one device.
Standard for VPN, Dark Web Monitoring, or more listed devices
Standard is the closer fit if you specifically want Norton’s VPN or Dark Web Monitoring, or if the comparison page’s three-device allowance suits your needs. The listed cloud backup remains 2 GB, the same as AntiVirus Plus; moving to Standard does not increase that allowance according to the comparison matrix.

Deluxe for five devices, more backup, or parental controls
If your household needs broader coverage, Norton 360 Deluxe is worth checking rather than assuming Standard is enough. Norton lists five devices, 50 GB of cloud backup, VPN, Dark Web Monitoring, Privacy Monitor, and Parental Control for Deluxe. Those additions may matter more than the difference between the two plans in this comparison.

Norton’s U.S. Standard product page, accessed October 7, 2026, displayed $39.99 for the first year and a $94.99 renewal price, alongside three-device coverage. Those are volatile offer details, not universal prices: Norton’s pages show more than one offer presentation, and availability can depend on the selected offer and location. Check both the first-term charge and the renewal amount at checkout.

Norton’s comparison article says its prices and information were correct as of January 2026. It listed first-year annual-billing prices of $2.50 per month for AntiVirus Plus, $3.33 per month for Standard, and $4.17 per month for Deluxe, with one, three, and five devices respectively. This is a dated vendor comparison, not a current checkout quote. Use it only as a historical reference, and confirm today’s price and included allowance on the offer you are considering.
What Norton’s security figures do—and do not—show
Norton says it stopped 1.8 billion attacks in 2024, including an average of 191 million phishing and scam attempts, on its comparison page. These are Norton-reported figures, not an independent test comparing AntiVirus Plus with Standard. The reviewed plan information does not establish that one of these subscriptions is more effective than the other at blocking threats.

Norton describes AntiVirus Plus in its FAQ as foundational protection and says, “Norton 360 provides a more comprehensive solution for the protection of your devices and your activity online.” That is the vendor’s positioning, not evidence of a measured performance advantage between these two subscriptions.
What to verify before subscribing
- Device allowance: Confirm the number of devices on the precise AntiVirus Plus or Standard offer; Norton’s AntiVirus Plus pages differ on this point.
- Included features: Check that the VPN or Dark Web Monitoring is included if either is the reason you are considering Standard.
- Backup capacity: AntiVirus Plus and Standard list 2 GB; Deluxe lists 50 GB on Norton’s comparison and Standard product pages.
- Price at renewal: Read the renewal charge and term shown at checkout, not just a first-year promotional amount.
- Region and offer: The cited details are from Norton’s U.S. pages. Local pricing, terms, or available offers may differ.
