Choose Norton if avoiding an added manager fee is the priority
Norton says its Password Manager is free for PC and mobile. It is also included with Norton AntiVirus Plus and Norton 360, but Norton says you can continue using Password Manager after canceling Norton 360. That makes the manager distinct from the paid security suite: do not assume that using the free manager means you have the suite’s other protections.

Consider NordPass if its plan features solve a specific need
NordPass lists Free, Premium, and Family personal plans. Its plan information identifies one account on Free and up to six accounts on Family. If several people need separate accounts, NordPass Family’s listed six-account scope is a concrete option to assess. If your main need is syncing a personal vault among browsers and mobile devices, Norton documents synchronization, while NordPass distinguishes Free from paid plans for multi-device access. Confirm the current terms for your devices and account before choosing.

What each provider documents about security
NordPass
NordPass says it encrypts data locally before cloud upload and uses a zero-knowledge approach. Its security explanation names XChaCha20-Poly1305-IETF for protecting a locally stored private key, and Argon2id with a 16-byte salt to derive a master key. These are descriptions from NordPass, not independent proof that it is safer than Norton.
Norton
Norton’s support material says the vault password is converted into a key used to encrypt vault data, and its security description also refers to zero-knowledge architecture. Norton states: “Norton cannot see your passwords or sensitive data stored in Norton Password Manager.” This is Norton’s own product statement.

If security is your deciding factor, look for current independent assessments rather than treating an algorithm name or vendor claim as a comparative verdict.
