Nimbus Screenshot Repeats Sticky Headers: Causes and Fixes

A repeated header is often a stitching artifact, not a bad screenshot setting. Match Nimbus’s capture mode to the page, then try a sticky-aware method or capture smaller sections.

If Nimbus Screenshot shows the same header several times in a full-page image, the likely cause is the way scrolling captures are stitched: a fixed or sticky header can remain visible in successive screenfuls. First check that you chose the capture mode that matches the content. If the header still repeats, recapture in smaller sections or use a method that explicitly handles sticky elements. Nimbus’s available guide describes several capture modes, but does not establish a dedicated sticky-header suppression control.

Why a header can repeat in a scrolling screenshot

A full-page scrolling capture may collect successive viewport-sized images and join them into one image. A position: fixed element stays in the viewport; a position: sticky element attaches to it after reaching its scroll threshold. If either remains visible across captured frames, the stitched result can contain multiple copies. This explains the general artifact, but does not prove every Nimbus capture or version behaves identically. For an explanation of the stitching issue, see Full Page Screenshot’s overview and the technical discussion at FrontendComponent.com.

Choose the Nimbus capture mode that matches the page

Nimbus’s indexed guide describes several capture modes. The appropriate one depends on whether you want the main document, a limited region, or content in its own scrolling panel. The vendor guide pages were returning 404 when checked for this article, so labels and availability may differ in your current extension; consult the current Nimbus interface rather than assuming a particular control is present.

What you need to capture Mode to try Why
The whole normally scrolling webpage Entire page Intended for the full document rather than a separate inner panel.
A bounded region of the page Selected area or Capture fragment Limits the capture to the region you need, which can avoid stitching the entire page.
Content inside a separately scrolling panel, such as a chat window or control panel Capture scroll fragment Nimbus describes this mode for content in an independently scrolling area.
The current viewport only Visible part of page Captures what is currently on screen rather than building a full-page image.

Nimbus’s mode descriptions are in its indexed Nimbus Screenshot guide and Capture scroll fragment guide. In particular, Capture scroll fragment is for a scrolling region within a page; it is not a general sticky-header-removal switch.

Fix the overlap step by step

  1. Check the target. Decide whether you are capturing the main page or an inner panel that has its own scrollbar.
  2. Select the matching mode. Use Entire page for the whole document, Capture scroll fragment for the inner scrolling panel, or a selected area/fragment for a limited region. If you only need the current screen, use Visible part of page.
  3. Let the page settle and capture again. Wait for the page to finish loading before starting. If lazy-loaded content or animation is incomplete, increase any available scroll delay and repeat. A delay can give content time to render; it does not change fixed or sticky positioning. FullPage Capture also discusses scroll delay and sticky-element troubleshooting in its help and FAQ.
  4. If the header still repeats, change the capture approach. Use a method that explicitly handles sticky elements, if available in your chosen tool, or capture separate sections instead of stitching the full document. The available Nimbus sources do not document a Nimbus-specific control that neutralizes sticky positioning.
  5. Keep the original image. Manual removal of duplicated headers can leave visible seams where sections join; if the image matters, a fresh capture is usually a cleaner general remedy.

When you need to report a Nimbus-specific problem

A repeatable capture is more useful for troubleshooting than a description alone. Keep the original output and note the browser, operating system, Nimbus extension version, capture mode, and whether the page uses an inner scrolling panel. The available sources do not establish a tested browser/OS/version combination or confirm a Nimbus-specific defect, so include those details rather than assuming the cause is a particular extension release.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single request can return an image or PDF; this example requests a WebP screenshot of the page. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options. This API is an alternative capture workflow, not a documented Nimbus setting or a guarantee that sticky headers will be neutralized.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
  • It accepts cookie/consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off.
  • Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; response headers report the page verdict and billing status.
  • An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
  • The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will increasing scroll delay remove a sticky header from the image?

No. Delay may help unfinished content render between captures, but does not change the element’s fixed or sticky positioning.

Is Capture scroll fragment the right mode for an entire webpage?

It is described for content in a separate scrolling area within a page. For the whole normally scrolling document, try Entire page.

No. The available guide describes capture modes but does not document a Nimbus-specific sticky-header suppression control.
