NEXTPredict Founder Says Prediction-Market Journalism Was Missing a Wider Audience

NEXTPredict co-founder Pierre Lindh says prediction-market stories could reach beyond industry insiders, but the available numbers do not measure that broader readership.

NEXTPredict co-founder and managing director Pierre Lindh says prediction-market stories can interest far more than industry insiders, but that serious journalism for general readers was missing. His claim that the audience is “enormous” is a characterization, not a measured count: the available figures do not establish how many people want to read about prediction markets.

What did Pierre Lindh mean by “nobody was serving” prediction markets?

In an interview published August 27, 2026, Lindh contrasted specialist iGaming trade coverage—which he described as aimed at a limited professional readership—with prediction-market stories that can matter to and interest ordinary readers. He said: “That audience is enormous compared to ours, and nobody was serving it with real journalistic standards.” The audience he meant was the readership for prediction-market stories, not the users of prediction-market platforms.

That distinction matters. Lindh was describing a perceived gap in accessible, serious reporting. His remark does not establish that prediction markets had no news coverage, exchanges, or users, nor does it quantify a general readership. The interview is the source for his view and the related figures he cited; those figures are not independent measurements of audience demand. PredictCentr’s interview with Lindh

What is NEXTPredict?

NEXTPredict describes itself as a media, research, and conference brand dedicated to the prediction-markets industry. It says it was created by the team behind NEXT.io, an iGaming media and events business, and presents its coverage through a financial lens. Its stated aim is to provide independent journalism and a place for industry stakeholders to meet; that is the company’s own positioning. NEXT.io’s NEXTPredict announcement and NEXTPredict’s About page

The brand identifies three main workstreams:

  • News: a portal covering prediction markets and their industry.
  • Research: original reports and data analysis.
  • Events: a professional summit intended to bring industry participants together.

Its stated professional audience includes platform operators, institutional traders and market makers, investors and venture capital firms, regulators and policymakers, legal and compliance professionals, infrastructure builders, and media leaders. That industry-facing audience is distinct from the broader public readership Lindh believes prediction-market coverage could reach.

Why did the team launch the brand?

Lindh said the team saw two developments: the industry’s search for growth was turning toward emerging products such as prediction markets, and accessible, serious reporting about the subject appeared to be lacking. To test interest, he said, the team produced a 55-page report that received around 1,500 downloads. He described that response as part of the path to launching NEXTPredict in April and building a summit around it. The download count is Lindh’s account, not an audited circulation figure or evidence of continuing readership. PredictCentr’s interview with Lindh

Lindh also explained the event rationale in terms of bringing people together: “The industry was being formed and the people forming it had never sat in a room together”. He described a separate challenge for the summit’s program: “The story that gets us on air is not the story our delegates are paying to be in the room for, and both have to be true at the same time.” In his account, public-facing stories can attract media attention while the event’s professional agenda focuses on the business and structure of the market.

What do the market numbers show—and what don’t they show?

Several figures cited in recent coverage describe market activity, but none directly counts the audience for prediction-market journalism. They use different methods and measure different things.

Figure What it measures What it does not establish
NEXTPredict says the industry grew from $500 million in 2022 to $63.5 billion by the end of 2025. The company’s characterization of industry growth on its About page. The cited passage does not identify the measurement method or independently validate the figures; they are not readership figures. NEXTPredict About page

Token Terminal’s metric, described by Decrypt as unique addresses making a revenue-generating transaction; reported October 5, 2026. It measures activity under that definition, not the number of people interested in news. Decrypt’s October 5, 2026 report
Kalshi reported 3 million new users and more than $1.2 billion traded on a 2026 World Cup winner contract. Company-reported platform activity, as reported by Decrypt on October 5, 2026; match-day volume exceeded non-match-day volume. 22% to 27% of crypto traders. Langston Co.’s projection of crypto traders using prediction markets, reported secondhand by Decrypt on October 5, 2026. It is a survey projection, not a direct census of prediction-market users or news readers. Decrypt’s October 5, 2026 report
$13.76 billion in Polymarket trades; 3% of accounts took roughly 27% of dollar profits. Trading and profit concentration in a working paper’s dataset, as summarized by Decrypt on October 5, 2026. It does not measure market-wide audience size. Decrypt’s October 5, 2026 report
Around 1,500 downloads of a 55-page report. Lindh’s account of an early response, given in an August 27, 2026 interview. It is neither independently audited nor a measure of ongoing readership. PredictCentr’s interview with Lindh

Platform addresses, users, trading volumes, survey estimates, report downloads, and journalism readership are not interchangeable measures. The cited coverage does not provide a defensible total for the broader audience interested in prediction-market news.

What is planned for NEXTPredict NYC?

NEXT.io announced NEXTPredict NYC for October 22–23, 2026, at Hudson Yards in New York, with an expected 2,500 delegates. The announced attendee groups include operators, investors, founders, regulators, and media leaders. Decrypt reported on October 5 that working journalists from CNBC and CNN had been added to a program alongside exchange and industry participants. As of October 7, 2026, the event is upcoming, so the delegate figure and schedule are plans rather than completed outcomes. NEXT.io’s event announcement and Decrypt’s October 5, 2026 report

The announced agenda addresses market structure, regulation, capital, products, and industry relationships. The dates fall shortly before the US midterm elections. Lindh told PredictCentr that the election could drive media attention, while saying the bulk of the agenda was focused on market structure. The timing does not mean the summit is primarily an election event.
